Fork oil question

About 3 months ago I replaced the fork oil and seals. I used the kit from traxxion and measured the fork oil from the top of the fork without the spring to what was in the service manual. I believe maybe I used the wrong fork oil. Since then even with the compression and rebound set to full soft the front is very very springy. I usually ride with the clutch covered and its so harsh it sometimes knocks my hand off the handlebar. At night when I'm riding I can see the beam of my headlights going up and down drastically on a car I'm following.

My sag settings are within the ballpark for my weight.

The fork oil listed below is what I used. I used the light viscosity which I believe is 5 wt even though their website shows it as 50wt

Would that oil cause that much of a drastic change? Also using a zip tie I still have about 1 1/2 inch of travel that the fork is not using.

If the fork oil is the problem. Would this oil be a better choice.

5wt fork oil is fine and is what is typically used.. the reason your forks feel "springy" is likely cause you set em to full soft.:)
Street riding, and having 1.5" of travel left, is not an issue either. it's not likely you are going to go fast enough, and brake hard enough, to use all the travel on the street.

Settings are way off it sounds like. Much more than 5wt and the ride gets pretty stiff. I used maxima 10wt in my 08 when I had it and it was pretty stiff, but I also had it set up for the track so thats pretty normal.

I'm sure the settings are way off cause I can tell that just from riding. I tried using the settings posted on sportrider magazine site but no matter what I try the ride just feels like shit.

I started with all of the settings in the middle but can't get it back to the normal feel. I used to commute to work on the bike and put down almost 20K miles on this bike but after the fork service it's almost unrideable.

What year bike?

How many clicks are on each of the damping adjusters right now (still full open (counterclockwise) or what?
