Heres how to put in a nice little LED in it...I like it because the blue really accents the whole bike. In the dark its alright...the camera makes it look really dim but I think if I were to do it again I would go with white LED to make it super bright. The hardest part of it was not to burn a hole through the board!!
Basically solder a resistor (cant remember what size) to the one side of the LED. Then solder the resistor to one of the "contact tabs" where the holder for the original bulb would contact and then solder the other side of the LED to the other tab. Really alls I did was stick the LED down in the hole to where it looked straight and sturdy.
Instead of soldering, get a "74 Wedge Base LED bulb"...I got 2 blue ones (for the RPM and Speedo screen). If I remember correctly, you have to turn out the black plastic socket and pull or wiggle out the bulb (was a pain), wedge in the new LED bulb into the socket (positioning the leads correctly). I posted this before. previous post
I actually just came across a order form for the bulbs that i go for this...
Quantity Product Price Base Shipping Options Subtotal
2 921 Wedge Base LED bulb $ 1.95 $ 0.00 Amber $ 3.90
2 74 Wedge Base LED bulb $ 1.19 $ 0.00 Blue $ 2.38
