stretched and lowered?

im sorry if this has been asked before but im new here. I'm looking into getting my first bike, the only bike im looking for is a r6. I've always liked them since i was young. My question is that the one bike i'm looking at has a has a b/n LRC 6 inch swingarm extension and its lowered 2.5 inches in the front and 2 inches in the back.

Now i know that with the bike being extended it hurts the cornering, but is it a big difference? I mean this is my first bike if that makes a difference. They do look nice no doubt but should i consider putting it back to stock? The bike is a great deal that i can't pass up on thats why im asking.

Thanks for any help

Re: stretched and lowered?

have him put it back to stock so you dont have to (i doubt he will do it). the slightest changes to the suspension will greatly affect the performance of the bike.

id say keep looking

05 cbr600rr - sold
06 r6 raven. crashed on the date of 2-6-11
09 zx6r - sold
08 cbr600rr - sold

New bike: 09 DRZ400SM

Re: stretched and lowered?

Oh my gah let me tell you. I've lowered all of my bikes (because I'm short) just so I can at least touch the ground with my tippy toes not flat foot.

People always say it affects handling etc you shouldn't do it. BUT if it's your first bike I suggest lowering it to get comfortable on it. Especially since it's just on the streets you're not going to be dragging knees and doing wheelies.

With that said, I hate extended swing-arm bikes, and I hate them even more after finally riding with one on. I had to ride my friend's new R6 home with extended swing-arm and I couldn't turn/lean AT ALL. It "automatically" puts you back upright so I had to take turns at 7-10 mph instead of 15 - 20 mph.

Special Thanks to GIJoe007 for this sig.

Re: stretched and lowered?

if you like it get it... you can always take it off if you dont like it. mines lowered and stretched and i like it. i can always put it back to stock for trackdays but we have no curved roads here so all i do is cruise and i think it looks cool. fcuk what anyone else says, it'll be your bike.
