i crashed my optimals i think 3 times.. held up perfectly fine... they are actually a touch thicker, and seem to be atouch better than these armour bodies on my bike now
I have optimals on my bike and they fit pretty good. Couple minor fitment issues but with proper paint/prep they look great. I would buy them again. I mounted/prepped/painted these all myself in my garage.
My catalyst and my cycleskinz did not require this, they came pre marked. All I had to do was drill the holes and mount them up. I spent less time installing both of those sets put together than I did getting one set of optimals to "fit" with fit being a loose term, especially for the upper.
generally most fiber glass products need work, it just depends on how much. you get what you pay for as with most other things in life. get what fits your desired budget and keep in mind the cost savings may in turn reflect in extra work to make fit.
FWIW all my fairings are still in 1 piece after my crash, the tail is banged in but it's still in one piece, so is the front after the bike flipped and landed on the windscreen. Broke a clip on and a lever but my plastics are all in one piece.
Walt on the other hand destroyed his sharkskinz tail and his front fairing tore apart and his bike didn't flip, just slid.
Every crash is different.
Steph, I think you're just being stubborn and having a hard time accepting that the crap product you got(years ago?) could have very well been improved since then,
That could be, but then I didnt forget about their shitty attitudes or piss poor customer service either.... and I also didnt forget that there are far better brands out there for not a lot more money. Why would I roll the dice or recommend something when my personal experience with every aspect of the transaction was absolutely sub par? Im not pushing a brand here, not selling parts, just offering personal experience after being around the track a "few" times. If optimal was that great, why dont you see real teams using them to save money? I guess I just have higher standards than some of you and I guess I remember when some place makes a shitty product and treats its customers in a poor manner. You get what you pay for and like I said, you can spend your money how you like.
Im saying that sharkskinds are what? 750-800 bucks a set? Tell me thats not a 200% or better mark up.
Ive dealt with fiberglass/molds for a long time. I did a bunch of mold work for Sea Ray boats, for NorrisCraft boats, and for Moomba boats back a few years ago. I know what it takes to build, and produce any type of fibergalss product. I dont need to build a mold and do the work. I have a job, that takes my 50 plus hours a week that im happy at. I dont need to get involved with the over analyzing consumer public that i actually see in this thread. Im fine with keeping other american companies busy with my purchases.
And another thing, until you produce a better fitting product at a lesser price, shut your fcuking mouth about what you could do versus what everyone else is. You obviously have no clue as to the amount of time and R&D involved in making this stuff, especially considering the financial risk and the multitudes of competitors. PUT THE FCUK UP OR SHUT THE FCUK UP.
I stand corrected, you do have an idea of the R&D, but you're another mouthpiece about how YOU could do SO much better if you just wanted to. I guess I could be a MotoGP champ if I just wanted to....
NO. IM SIMPLY STATINGS THAT YOUR ACTING LIKE A KNOW IT ALL DOUCHEBAG, THAT EVERYONE SHOULD HEED YOUR ADVICE.
And for $50 bucks, with dzus fastners installed, thats a hell of a deal yes. ill agree.. but how much touch up on the body work did they have to do.. And they reffering to your friends, of cycleskins?
Thanks for telling me what my standards are also..
I admitted that I dont know it all, and I said buy what you like, so your first statement is stupid, and incorrect. I simply stated I have higher standards than you, so if you dont mind settling for lower quality, by all means, spend away.
And I had less touch up work to do than I did with optimal, and no, I dont know the Cycleskinz people, I just know a guy that sells them, and for $450 shipped, they are a much better deal than the Craptimals.
And apparently you failed reading, it was $50 for the fasteners and to install them, $450 for the fairings, and $50 to install had I chosen that route.
Im done with this, as you obviously have more of an issue with me than my statements... Notice Im not the one calling names here...
and secondly, DONT TELL ME WHAT THE FCK TO DO... You want to stoop to be a disrespecting cock sucker, you can.. I have better morals than to argue with some know it all idiot on the fcking internet.
And i never said i could do better. I stated that i could sell it cheaper.
Im done arguing.. BASH all you want.. i will NOT respond to you any further.
Nope not mad at all.. Why get mad at a forum/website/the internet. This is a video game.. If i start to get mad, id turn the shit off. Im just stating you, as I stated above, are acting as if you are the fiberglass critic of the board, and no one has standards, if they arent as high as yours. You had a shitty experience, so i understand your frustration.. I had a shitty deal with an advertiser on here. But you dont see me on here blasting their company/product.

So I should give a shitty product and company a good review or not warn others because........ yeah, great logic there...
I didn't say i was THE man on fiberglass, just that I had personal experience with some brands. I dont claim to be an expert, show me where I said different.
Just so you know, Im trolling you...but either way, I gotta pick up my kid so have fun.
Now YOU are the one making a deal of my post count, and anyone here will tell you I dont even do that... I never said you were a noob. For someone that isnt butthurt, you sure act it.... and have no problem making all kinds of wild inferences about what I think.... Keep digging bro...:bowroll
