The worst part is that apparently most every bike will have its own default settings and since the shop didn't tell me what they were I guess I won't ever know (unless there's a way to "reset" the ecu or something?). If anyone here has an '04 and has messed with this I would be interested to know what your default C values are.

The shop set all of the numbers to 10 so I'm going to try setting them all to 5 and see how that affects the mileage. If that doesn't do it I guess I'll keep reducing them until I find something that works, but from what I understand after reading all that, just reducing all the numbers arbitrarily won't necessarily give me the best gas mileage.

Luke, I saw your big post in that thread and it looks like you know as much about this as just about anyone so if you have any specific advice it'd be appreciated! Were able to figure out what kind of affect different adjustments had on gas mileage?
That's exactly what I was referring to. Set it to oem settings bro.

yeah that's what it seemed like to me. Though the shop said setting all the numbers to 10 richened it a bit I didn't really notice much of a change in performance/response, if any, yet it apparently took away 20+ mpg.

That's what I planned but apparently different bikes, even ones of the same year and sold in the same country, may have different stock settings so since the shop never told me what they were I'll probably never know for sure. I'm going to call them but I doubt they'll know. My plan is to go from 10 across the board to 5 and then 0 if need be. It's gonna be raining here for a few days it looks like but once I'm able to test it out ill post the results

Re: Running lean with poor gas mileage

A thought just occurred to me. I didn't know about smog block off plates but I recently started looking into them (probably get some when I get a PC). As I understand they eliminate the emissions control stuff that pumps air into the exhaust to burn unspent fuel in order to meet standards, so if you're tuning the bike this can cause a misreading in the a/f ratio.

You guys think its possible that the shop was still getting a lean reading after adjusting the ecu even though I'm getting terrible mpg because of this?

Also, is the PCIII my only option for the 2004 r6?
