Hey guys, I currently ride a 2005 gixxer 1000, and I'm thinking about getting an 04 r6. I'm 5'7 with about a 29 inseam, and I can almost flat foot my gixxer. Will I have a problem on the r6?
You will not be able to flat-foot a stock R6…..not even close, but I'm the same height as you with a little longer inseam, and I am more than comfortable with the 1-foot lean. You can tippy-toe both sides, but I prefer to lean a little to the left and flat foot one foot. I've never had a problem.
Mine is a 3rd gen, though. I couldn't flat-foot my 1st gen either. Never sat on 2nd gen.
I'm 5'6 and I could not flat foot my 2nd gen R6, also an 04. If you're comfortable doing the 1 leg lean then you'll have no problem. Makes moving around parking lots a little more difficult, but very manageable once you get the turning on the kickstand technique down.
If you're 5'7'' then you're not too short for any bike. Flat-footing is completely unnecessary, and the 04 has a particularly low seat height anyway.
