I've got a 2002 R6 with about 30,000 miles on it. It's in decent condition except that sometimes when I'm riding it it wants to stall for no apparent reason. It's always right around 5,000 rpm and if I crank the throttle I can power through the problem...but sometimes not even that will work. Just this morning it stalled out on me when I was taking off from a stop at an intersection.
A few things to note....I replaced the fuel filter thinking maybe that was the problem. The fuel pump is brand new. The bike idles perfectly at all times, firing on all four cylinders. After it stalls sometimes it'll start right back up fine and go...other times it doesn't want to start or stalls again. And every so often I think there is a high pitched squeal coming from the engine compartment but it doesn't seem to coincide with the power loss so I don't know if it's related.
I took it to the dealership and they rode it like 5 times and it didn't do it for them...but it happens more often than not when I ride it. Seems like it may happen after accelerating quickly...but this isn't confirmed.
Please help...I'm no bike mechanic and I don't want to bring it back to the dealership to get charged more money for them to ride it around and tell me it's fine.
