Re: Quick Release Fasteners

I could have sworn years ago, I have seen fasteners that look like Dzus fasteners but are threaded instead, basically not needing to use an alan key.

Maybe it was Lockhart Phillips.

Awesome, any word on the graves plug type? or maybe a combo of those and dzus fasteners? just trying to make my 08 fairings as hassle free as possible. would I be able to get away with the dzus fasteners only?

What year was the body? also were the two fasteners that couldn't be replaced the screws that go into the frame on either side?

yea... the longer bolts that bolt the "tips" of the uppers to the actual frame cannot be replaced. in fact, you'll use those to mount track glass as well.

as for the year, i'm not sure. i think it was jamieching... so an S model, or 03-05 would be the same. i'd guess the third-gen would be pretty similar though. he bought a 4-pack to test, then came back and bought the rest of the 20 or so he needed.

lemme know.

I can see the point of using it on street fairings but keep in mind it'll be easier for thieves to steal your fairings.

A guy I know around here parked his bike close to the door and someone stole his windshield, it was held on by the plastic windshield screws so he invested in the hex type bolts now.

Special Thanks to GIJoe007 for this sig.

I am not too concerned with that, the bike is mostly a track-day/canyon bike that is kept in a very secure location 90% of the time. and never leaves my sight the other 1o% but I see how that could be a big worry for a lot of people.

I also have some left over somewhere, if you're interested in some...ship them, and they're yours.

I was unable to replace the screws at the windscreen, the screws into the frame, the long silver allen keys, and the two that take care of the ram air cover. I broke one trying to get it to fit...I don't recommend that.

Also, Agg is correct. I have an S model.
