Is it possible to replace the screen of speedometer? Everything is in perfect working fashion, but there is a crack in the screen. I bought this bike in semi-tough shape (broken fairings, frame slider snapped, etc.) and I've fixed EVERYTHING except this and it's starting to kill me! haha I don't want the hassle or the price tag of a new unit. I'll probably shoot over to Yamaha this week to get their opinion.
I cant remember but if its glass or plastic screen you should be able to pop it out but your would have to get a piece of glass custom made or find one the exact same size and install that securely.
If they actually thing is cracked, well that's a good excuse to install aftermarket speedometer go get one with a gear indicator. There not that expensive for the features you can get with em.
Go on ebay and look for a replacement housing. A lot of them ship from china and take a few weeks to arrive, but you'll spend ~$25 and it looks as good as OEM. I've had to replace a couple of them due to broken mounting pegs.
Retail is 160.xx, and would definitely fit, but expensive. You could find a whole used dash for less than that or try the china/eBay option
