I am probably going to do the -1 front +2 rear conversion. I saw sprocket kits being sold with a chain and everything. Is this the best way to do it? Also is it easy to install or should I pay the dealer to swap them out.

it depends what kit you get. I went with motomummy and got the sprocket specialist 520 conversion. it was a great buy. i think it was $180 shipped

If you are somewhat mechanically inclined and have a torque wrench you can def do it yourself.

The erv3 is actually weaker then many other chains and costs the most. Just because it costs the most doesn't mean it's the best. the rk gxw and ek mvxz I would run before I run the erv3. erv3 is only rated at 750cc where the other two I mentioned are rated at 1000cc since they are much stronger. They will last longer as well. The erv3 is also the oldest models out of what I listed. You normally get what you pay for, but not 100% of the time. The weight differences are only ounces as well. For example the rk gxw weights about 2 pencils more weight at 120 links. About 2-3 ounces which is nothing. Being cheaper and stronger I would recommend it over the erv3.

I'm not bashing the chain or your post, but posting up the facts about it so others know. We are one of the largest chain kit dealers in the country so we deal with all the chains/sprockets on a regular basis and the manufacturers. Just trying to post up the facts so others can make up their mind after knowing the facts.

Rated at 750cc where others we sell are 1000cc which makes it the weakest
Brought into the country in small numbers so the cost is more
Lightest chain though, but only by 2-5 ounces
Oldest model chain out of the ones we sell

It's pushed a lot by racers as DID sponsors many racers, but if you compare the facts released by the manufacturers it's interesting. EK is going to be coming out with a killer new 520 chain in August so stay tuned for that one guys because if the facts are what I hear then it will turn the chain world upsidedown, but be a bit more spendy then the erv3, but the facts will make it well worth the money.
