Proper suit/gear and track days, then by this time next year you will be ready for the suspension and slipper (which makes a hell of a difference btw)

RIP Matt (Ghost R6). You will be greatly missed. Be smooth and the rubber turning till we meet again.

Honestly I would skip all that stuff especially if you commute on the bike still. Just get a leather suit, tires, and start hitting the track.
This. You won't be able to utilize ANY of that shit to 50% of its potential... Just get on the track. Get a used suit and get out there.

What about the crash kit?

Should I snag one of those as well as a suit?

And is there anything else I might need before a track day? The track I'm looking at just says all lights and mirrors taped over or removed, good tires, and a suit, but don't you usually need a track lower fairing so you can't leak oil?

As long as you've got woodcraft sliders, you're good. The rest is gravy-- Tape over lights or take them out completely (one less thing to replace if you crash).. Track fairings like that are only required for racing.

Re: What to spend my money on?

Most all track days dont require bellypans thats usually for the racebikes, and yes a crash kit. Shoguns are decent cant go wrong with Woodcraft for the cut style, and if you want no-cut I highly reccomend Motovation USA.

Save it. Sounds like you already have a nice bike for commuting.
