Well recently went to go to get my bike lowered and they informed me that it's not as easy as I thought. How easy is it to install the lowering links? Not trying to go crazy low, I just need to lower it because I'm almost on tippy toes when the bike is at a stop. Any install videos out there?
You just need a way to support the rear of the bike other than from the swingarm. After that it's just undoing the bolts and swapping out the links. Simple stuff. It's also much easier if you remove the rear wheel first. If you've got fixed rearsets you can set the pegs on jackstands. If not, you'll have to get a little creative.
I still don't get why so many people say this is a problem. I've never been able to flat-foot my bikes. On my supermoto I AM on my tippy toes if both feet are down.

This. I can't flat foot any of my bikes. its a non issue.
But for the original question: its easy. Just put it on the kick stand and jack it up with a floor jack to take the weight off the shock. My wife's bike was lowered when we got it and I took the link out this way. Took about 5 minutes.
It's not a huge issue, just gets kind of annoying when there's dips in the road or when I'm trying to back the bike up and can barely reach. Still debating if it's worth doing
I can only touch the my toes to the ground on one side and it's no issue. Now if the bike was so high that I couldn't get it off the side stand, that would be an issue.
if you dont want to lower the bike too much... have you considered cutting the seat down? 1/2" - 1"
Lowering the bike affects the way it handles... dramatically.
Well the lowering links go 1" and that's all I would do if I did. I'm not trying to be on the ground. But I am curious if it messes with the length of the chain
Lowering the bike in most cases, its a 1/2 hour job. Super simple. I've done it many times. Remove the oem dogbones, and install the lowered ones. These are things so simple, that i dont know why people would pay a mechanic to do it. Google or youtube is your best friend. Try watching a video and you will see how easy it is.
get two buddies to lift the rear of the bike and set it on some stands, slide bolts out and new links in.
