I've grounded the neutral light switch to the battery/frame and still no neutral light. Went to diag mode and its off tried everything. Just bought a new wiring harness?
Kickstand diag mode: shows that its on, so its not kickstand
Any solutions? Could it be my wiring harness?
Bike wont crank at all because of the switch problem
The bike will switch into neutral tire rolls freely, and i tried using contact cleaner on the contacts
Try using a jumper wire to jump the pins in back of the plug to eliminate the switch from the circuit?
If switch passes the test then you will have to inspect the wiring that leads to the connector in back of the meter unit. There will be a 12V red/white wire that feeds into a sub harness connector which connects to a brown wire in connector plug to the meter unit.
The only other thing in the circuit is the starting cut off relay but that would more than likely give you other issues if that were bad.
Did you try to pull the switch out and clean it up? It's usually the switch that goes bad. Mine has been flaky ever since I had to drop the motor. I've just been too lazy to do anything about it even though I have an extra switch.
And forgive my ignorance here because I have this bypassed on my bike, but can't you just lift the kickstand and then fire it up? Maybe you need to satisfy the clutch switch too. That's how my GSXR worked. You only had to satisfy neutral or the kickstand, not both.
Does fire up with clutch in. Havent tried pulling thw switch but i have another switch same bike year. And im grounding it out with the wire. Still no neutral
I didn't realize you went into diag mode which does this test for you, but still never hurts. Take a multimeter and set to test continuity. Stick one probe in the Blue Wire (I think its blue, theirs only 2 wires) and the other end in the black wire. Switch bike to on and in neutral you should hear a beep. Switch bike in gear, the beeping should stop.
You can also see if there is voltage in the blue wire by sticking positive probe here and grounding the neg probe with bike on and in neutral.
If none of this passes the test and you followed His Own 6 advice about cleaning the switch then I would move to the connector and wiring from the meter unit.
It should. Now you need to probe around from the meter unit. What happens is when you turn on the bike power is sent down the Red/white wire into the meter unit. If the neutral switch is engaged the circuit is complete and current passes through the LED illuminating the neutral light. Current then flows through the starting circuit cut off relay which provides power to the starter when all conditions are met (Sidestand up or bike in neutral etc.).
Since your bike starts with clutch in and sidestand up we can rule out the starting circuit cut off relay. Therefore the issue more then likely lies in the connection to the back of the meter unit. It's possible the LED is shot but that is so rare.
OK I think I'm lost in translation here as each post seems to add details that were unclear or lacking in previous posts.
You replaced switch but still did not work?
You connect sky blue wire directly to ground and everything works?
Can you jump the pins with a jumper wire and start the bike no problems?
Are you sure the switch ground wire is connected right and has good ground? Connectors clean?
I'm on the phone so it's impossible to go back through and read posts while replying so I apologize if I'm asking questions you answered. But without a clear picture and understanding of situation electrical problems are a nightmare to solve via internet. So just bare with me here while I get myself on the same page. It's friedday after all, haha.
I got the thing to work, thinking theres a break from the neutral to the relay, neutral switch works, so i wired the neutral wire straight to the relay and the light is on when its in neutral.
Solved.
But now i have a code 12 and engine light... changed the CPS with my other one still having the code, cant clear it using diag 61 62 63, kill switch.
So I ordered a new wiring harness helping it clears everything up.
Guessing either battery is dead because it wants to crank but doesnt
