I left the honeycomb in place. All I did was cut off the mid muffler. I suppose I should take off the header and gut the honeycomb as well. Is there a downside to doing it? Well other than the obvious of not being able to get it back. And how difficult is it to remove it all?

Sometimes it's a total bitch to get out, and it might make your idle really bouncy

Its a pain to remove in my opinion... but some claim its not that bad. That is why yours isn't overly loud though. That will also mean the volume its at, is pretty much it will be as you won't detoriate/"break in" the exhaust packing.

If you want it louder, removing those cats will help. However if start removing it, you have to get it all.

Its not that bad to remove. I used a drill with a large drill bit on it. Like stated you need to remove all of it. It took like 15 minutes to get it all out. Of course mine was already off the bike. I have no idle issues with my bike. I am running a bazzaz on it with afm though.
