I have a 08 R6 (newer style) and I was looking to delete my Cat and replace it with a mid pipe. I have a competition werkes gp exhaust and stock headers. I also do not have a power commander (or anything like that). I was wondering if it would be bad for my engine or power. I have heard different things, like I'll lose all my back pressure or it will mess up my bikes computer. Does anyone have any experience with this and on top of that have any recommendation on mid pipes, I have found a few. But I don't want to get one that will breakdown on me.
Muffler delete......the catalyzers are in the headers. And yes removing the muffler will drastically affect the exhaust flow. You will need to tune the bike to get rideabity and performance gains.
I deleted mine w/ the m4 mid, had the toce 'muffler'. was way too loud. unbearably loud. got m4 muffler and it made it much more bearable. ended up w/ bazzaz engine management and after all was said and done, wanting to delete my cat cost me like 700 bucks lol.
hey pips.. I also recommend the m4 mid pipe, if you have an angle grinder & sawzall it'll be an easy process. You can flash the ECU to tune your bike $150 and mid pipe $150. Good Luck!
Flashing the ECU can also give you a bunch of other features (fans come on sooner, smoother throttle response, raised idle, custom map, etc...). Whereas the PCV is just strictly a fuel controller. WAY more worth it to just do the flash and it's cheaper than a brand new PCV.
To add to the list of additional benefits above of flashing vs just a fuel controller (AKA Power Commander) is you wouldn't need to buy a Servo Buddy (or other brand product) after you remove the EXUP system. Saves you $60.
As well, it's been expressed that having a Power Commander or other type of module is just another potential link in the electronics chain that can fail. If I had to assume I'd say the Graves bikes just have a flash
look up bauce racing .. you can mail the ecu to him in NJ nd he'll have it back to you in a few days. It really is the easiest option to fix your fueling
Im pretty sure if you flash it it voids the warranty. A lot of dealers dont even like the fact that you install a fuel management. Funny thing is that if you buy the fuel management from them and they install it, they would overlook the warranty. Dealers sucks
True that now I ant going to my dealer any more he just got busted for prostitution ring buying young men with mental disabilities bipolar and schizophrenia.
