Cool.. I've been there before just to watch but never ridden on this track. Should be fun though . I'm registered in the level 1.. The Michelin 2ct's should be just fine for me, yes? I'm also running stock gearing, stock pads and rotors, changed out all fluids. Not really sure I believe in changing gear ratios just for a track yet.. Or switch to gp shift.. Maybe when I get better and smoother . Sounds like all personal preference though yeah?

Have you been to any other tracks? If you're rolling in level 1, as long as the bike is mechanically sound and has good tires on it, the only "equipment" thing I would worry about is getting a baseline suspension setup.

Learning the track and working on your own skills is definitely what you should focus on. Brake pads and gearing changes and the like aren't going to make a significant difference until you know the track well and you're pushing pretty hard.

Cool thanks Fallis, that's all I needed to know. Nope this will be my first time ever riding on any track. Bike is mechanically sound, just needs a new set of tires. Also, suspension is setup as well :P. I've ridden canyons for the past few years and put on about 32,000 miles total on the street/canyons and have stuck with Bridgestone Bt-016, BT-023, Michelin pilot powers and the 2ct's as well. I haven't had any big complaints with any of these tires on the street... I'm wondering out of all of these tires though, which would be best for beginners class? Or would that matter much since it'd be my first time out??

I'm not familiar with the Bridgestone tires, but I ran PP 2ct's for several track days and they did just fine. Bridgestone S20s and Michellen Power Pures seem to be the pick of the litter as far as street tires go these days, but there's not a gigantic difference between those and the stuff you listed, so I wouldn't sweat it too much. Just make sure you get your tire pressures set right, and don't head out there with touring tires, and you'll be fine.

If you've spent a bunch of time in the canyons, you are going to be unbelievably stoked to be out on the racetrack.

Gonna be there on the 25th with a buddy. Pretty excit as I haven't ridden there in awhile and I would like to see where my times are.
Enjoy it, Fontana is a fun track. The 1-2 chicane is absolutely awesome. Also, remember to relax and enjoy the day.
