Girls, how many of you started with a 600cc bike?

I have a friend who will be getting her license soon, I told her once she get her license i can let her practice/play with my bike. But I don't know if it is safe enough because it is a rather powerful and heavy bike.

Negative. Don't do it, no matter how good a friend she is. You will be replacing fairings shortly after. The R6 is not a bike for learners. Beginners maybe, but a 1st time rider should never throw their leg over an R6, especially one that is not theirs. See if you can find a cheap small cc bike for her to start practicing with.

UM.. i STARTED AND LEARNED ON MY R6... so ... make sure she knows if something happens she is fixing it. LOL its up to you really. I learned on it and was fine. my problem is that i am 5 3 so touching the ground was the only factor.

My first bike was the Scott Russel Edition 750. I didn't die, or wreck it for that matter. I down sized when I bought an R6. But take advice from above, don't let anyone ride your bike ever. Cause when they wreck it they won't be as good a friend as you thought.

Re: Girls, how many of you started with a 600cc bike?

I started on the Ninja 250 (I'm 5 foot nothing) and graduated to the R6. Very glad I did it that way around; I am way more confident now than I was testing my husbands R6 out as my first bike. Also, riding the 250 first, REALLY made me appreciate the 6 when I first rode her!

the bike i started riding on the streets with was 1340cc.... but it was a harley lol and definitely wasn't the first thing i had ridden with only two wheels and an engine.

Re: Girls, how many of you started with a 600cc bike?

my r6 is my first street bike. i started out with first a 250 virago and then a 650 vstar. i'm definitely glad. i did i had prior experience because i've been riding dirtbikes since i was little but even the adjustment to a street legal bike was weird. in my opinion i wouldn't let my friend no matter how close we were start off on an r6 have her start off on a 250 it will make her better in the end.

I love my friends, but I LOVE my bike, lol... I agree start with something that is not as quick off the get go as an R6... I started with an old honda cm400 and in a couple of weeks was ready for something else, but it was good to get the feel of a bike down first

Re: Girls, how many of you started with a 600cc bike?

my girl started on an F4i and runs our 636 drag bike with no problems.... usually faster than folks on bigger bikes. IF you take it easy and pay attention, a 600 is fine for a learner bike, especially if you can't afford to buy a ninja 250 first...

I think she would be fine, but not on my bike...unless my bike was already ratted...either way...

It's true, after only riding a different bike for a few weeks, I wanted a sportbike and everyone said a 600 was to omuch for me to handle, but you just have to be smart and steady
