Wish mine was full fairing still. Looks good, only thing I see I don't like is how that FI cage mounts to the rear subframe mount. If that's a stock sub and bolts the first drop will probably shear the Al bolts off.
Why use a good tank to dent? Well probably would have taken some time to sell the good one, then find a cheaper damaged one that's not too damaged that wouldn't require a good amount of welding and extra time. So in the end theres a chance you wouldn't save any money unless you found a good deal. That and you can't do anything like this on a non-dented tank.
The FI cage does mount to the subframe lower bolt. You can't really make it out but I've got a ATC subframe on that bitch. And a ATC flat 12 bar sticking out the ass.
The right side tank looks like it came out a little better than the left. But, then again in this case it's not about how it looks. I look forward to seeing some sick stunt vids from you bro.
1. If I run the bike hard, "rpms over 9k" my bike with idle like shit. Normal, slow ass riding and the bike is fine. And after every wheelie the bike wants to die.
2. Radiator fan won't kick on at 220. I've already tested the fan and it works. Also filled my radiator completely.
Have you checked to make sure there aren't any kinks or binding going on with the fuel lines under the tank? I would make sure the lines are routed good. Then check things like plugs, coils and TBs. Oh oh and check your TPS, mine was doing weird shit like when you woudl clutch it up it would want to bog and die like something with the fuel pump. TPS was acting up. If the TPS shows in DIAG it's fluctuating end point values when turning the throttle it is either bad or has a loose connection. Check the grounds, the TPS connector and the main harness connector. If it's hanging up on a value take the TPS off and turn it with a screw driver if you can feel gritty resistance then remove the oring and spray it out good with some electrical contact cleaner and rotate it back and worth between sprays. Also sort out your radiator fan issue first and bleed the system if you get a lot of air in it it can make the bike idle and run funky.
As for the radiator fan, do you have yours bypassed to a toggle? If so what did you connect it to as the power feed? Mine is bypassed to the headlight switch so low beam the fan is only on and highbeam the fan and the acerbis headlight is on. If I blow my cluster/headlight fuse the fan won't turn on. So if you connected it to some accessory that fuse might have blown. If not that then the relay is probably bad. If you don't have your fan toggled or on constantly you should do it. Bike will run super cool.
Fcuking bitch! I was double check my shit last night. And noticed another busted fuse so I swap it and voila the mutherfcuking fan works. This is the second time I have changed it so I've definitely got a short somewhere.
I also checked my radiator relay and cleaned that biitch up. There was rust all over it.
i like it rid, i will have to do the fan swap to, and i wasnt sure if u could have the fan stay on the whole time, i figured you could just replace the temp sensor, so it could kick on sooner
No need to really even waste your money on an '05 radiator. Yea it has two fans, but I have the stock '03 rad with a single fan and my bike never gets over 200 even on hot days with the fan running all the time, average temp riding in the lot is ~178. I just wired my plug to the old headlight low beam. So with the switch on low beams the fan is on as soon as the bike starts and then when you switch it to high beam the headlight comes on. Just used a piece of wire with some female connectors to connect the fan plug to the headlight plug, that way nothing got hacked up. The headlight plug end I used male connectors that I filed to fit in the stock blue plug and electrical taped them to stay put. So femal connectors on the fan plug and filed down male connectors at the headlight plug.
Maybe a pic would better help explain my situation.
In the pic you can see 2 lock nuts being used. (lock nut, rubber gasket, jam nut) My setup only allows me to get 1 lock nut on the steering stem due to the shorter R1 stem.
1. Can I just run 1 steering stem lock nut and washer?
2. Can I get my steering stem pressed up 1 cm to fit the 2nd "jam nut"?
3. Just buy a 05 R6 lower triple?
