Re: Left Fork Seal Leaking!!!

Re: Left Fork Seal Leaking!!!

the seals arent expensive. its a little bit of work to do it so just wait till the other one goes.

are you doing them urself?

Re: Left Fork Seal Leaking!!!

i have the online maintenace manual with pics/directions..so im thinking of at least trying it and if unable bring just the forks to a local shop..any input??very difficult??worth trying??etc (also doing the project with a co-worker who owns a bike but yet has also never had to touch his own forks)

Re: Left Fork Seal Leaking!!!

here is a trick that might work. works on my mx bikes havent tried it on the steet bike yet...anyway. get a old film strip...run it down in the seal and see if any dirt comes out. run it in there and around the seal...bounce the forks...spay with brake cleaner...repeat. may work may not. sit the film strip on the fork tube mold it to the tube and run it down in the seal....if that makes sense. there is actually a tool for it called a "seal saver". film stips work the same though. just something id try first to check for dirt before new seals.

i have yet to bust a fork seal and i've landed hard a bunch when learning and still do it everynow and again. i believe its more from getting durt in it making them leak
