D&D slip on

I bought the 04 r6 special edition in June. Put a D&D slip on with the elbow and holly $%&*, is it ever loud. I mean LOUDD. :hammer No mods to the engine yet, just had it re-mapped. The neat thing is that the mechanic did the re-mapping right on the dash board. I believe he increased each cylinder setting by 5%. Now i feel a better throttle response along the engine running smoother. Anyways, This pipe is awesome, just too loud, I'm trying to sell it, any advice. I can't post ads yet - I'm a rookie.

I have a full d and d exhaust / header and high mount. The thing really sounds awesome, not to loud and actually has a real nice tone to it. I never really liked the sounds of d and d either but it came with it when I bought it. A friend has a d and d slip on and the thing is just unreal, its to much. All of this is weird becuase you figure that a full exhaust would be louder, but its not go figure.

Yeah, I've heard the D&D, and it's too loud for me. The last thing I want to do is ride with earplugs since I can't hear cars or other shit coming at me. But if you want to sell it, try ebay. I know there's people out there willing to buy em. Blueflame make a good slip on, since you can remove the baffles to change the sound (make it louder, etc.). There's other slip-ons out there that aren't too crazy too. look around in the exhaust section, and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for or look in the sticky section. there's a list of exhaust links there.

Not to quibble with you Hammy but their is guy we ride with who has a D&D on his GIxxer 600 and DROWNS out a dozen bikes on the highway with slip-ons. Even though its only a decibel the Sport Rider exhaust comparison has the D&D @ 105 and Micron @ 104.

I had a D & D on my 02 R6 and my god was that thing loud. I ride with about 10 other people and on weekend rides when I was lead bike the rear bike could hear my pipe CLEARLY over all the others. If I was going for a ride for more than 15 minutes, I had to wear earplugs to keep my ears from ringing. I recently traded my R6 in for an R1 and I have to say, it was hard letting it go because I loved the sound of it. I have heard the D & D on other 600cc bikes (Honda, Kawi, Suzuki) and they don't sound anywhere near as loud as they do on the 6.

I have an '01 with D&D slip-on damn its loud! I don' mind it too much but it sure is hard to Not draw a whole lot of attention when u open it up. My friend has a two bros carbon on his 600RR and its pretty damn loud too. I think im gonna try out another pipe the next time around. We did some burnouts side by side I couldn't tell how much louder either one was just a whole lot of ringing in my head!

whatever.....i think the majority of the people in here think that D&D pipes sound cheap and shitty....i know i do.....the best exhaust you can get for you 6, IMHO, is a FS Hindle or Akrapovic.....those two are where it's at.....

Yeah... lota guys don't like the high-pitched scream to the D&D.... I go against that grain, and prefer that loudness.... especially after hearing 19,000 rpm F1 cars... I rather my sportbike sound ilke an F1 car, than a truck at idle.... Just my preference though.

I had a D&D slip on when I had my 01' R6. Yes-my crew and others I rode with always said how loud it was, but also how good it sounded. I Loved it!! I'm considering another D&D for my new 05' R6. Either that, GYTR or a full exhaust. Any experience with full exhausts?

yea they're too loud. Thought about throwing it on my 2003 r6 but then I heard the akrapovik system. I think the D&D sounds like a honda civic on steroids. To each his own though

You wanna talk about loud? I slapped a Muzzy slip-on on my bike. When I'm strokin through the gears, that throaty growl puts goose bumps on my skin. I ride with quite a few ninjas (zx10r's and zx6r's) and one has a yoshi pipe that just don't have the scream to compete. Of course, one zx6 has a D&D that is right up there with mine.

D+D pipes are for attention whores. Yeah- loud pies are "cool", and all of my suzuki-riding friends have custom straight pipes on their gixxers that you can literally hear coming from 2 miles away. But are you shitting me? D+D's are for people who ride bikes because they look cool and attract attention- the same guys who cause brutal accidents on their bikes because they don't know how to ride them- or they're just too busy listening to how cool their bike sounds underneath their ass to watch the asphault.

I had a D&D full-system on my first bike, a 1995 zx6r. It definitely was loud, but it was a cheap kind of loud, no quality at all. I switched later to an Arrow system, and while it was just about the same in loudness, it definitely had a better quality to the sound. Now I am running a Akrapovic on a 04 r6, and I have to say I think it is by far the best of the lot!
