: What Color Paint?
Stogs415 09-03-2010, 09:25 PM hey next weekend i am going to get my fairings custom painted :secret But im still kinda trying to decide which color to get. as of right now i was thinking just black. what do you guys think? opinions and pictures welcomed.
jonesn51404 09-03-2010, 09:33 PM Black is played out IMO, go with a custom mix or get some decals to go with the black.
xzpolskix 09-03-2010, 09:35 PM If you really want to stand out:

:fact
IN all seriousness, I'd look into something different. Kinda like RoadRash did with his wheels.
Stogs415 09-03-2010, 11:21 PM yeah i deff want to do something unique but i just dont know what yet..theres so many options.
Stogs415 09-04-2010, 11:49 AM so nobody has any suggestions or advice or anything?
red.professor 09-04-2010, 11:54 AM If you willing to spend $, go with the two sided (One side *color othen side *color) paint job. Someone recently posted theirs but the two colors didnt work well.
And you want BLACK go with it. As long as you dont rattle can the whole damn thing
yammie6 09-04-2010, 11:56 AM Burnt orange is sexy...with a little black

Stogs415 09-04-2010, 12:05 PM hmmm. i was thinking about it earlier and was thinking about maybe a white, red, and black scheme but i have no idea of how that will turn out. is there some software or something that i can "try out" different colors and see how they look...?
red.professor 09-04-2010, 12:07 PM ^Photoshop. Or have someone who's really good at it do it for you.

Photoshop
Stogs415 09-04-2010, 12:12 PM well im not that good at photoshop, but i'll give it a go right now and play around with the colors. when i call the painter this week i want to have an idea of exactly what i want.
Stogs415 09-10-2010, 11:00 AM DAMN IT! i called the painter today, but he is a Marine and is at training for the next two months, so i cant get my bike painted until november...
i looked around but couldnt find a place that would do it for the price that this guy was going to do it for. everyone else wants $1100, this guys wants $600. sucks..
ROAD RASH 09-10-2010, 11:24 AM that gixxer orange is pretty sick

3rd-Geer 09-10-2010, 05:01 PM You should do something SICK like the CBR Grafitti. That would look SO SICK on an R6!!!!!
Actually thinking about doing this next summer to my bike to switch it up.

i actually was looking at that CBR and thats how i got the idea to do satin black. how would i mix in the graffiti? custom decals? or have him paint things like spray cans, dripping paint, arrows, etc.
as you can see..i like graffiti

What I was thinking of doing is probably a bit easier. I have a raven, so some of my panels are that satin black and others are glossy black. My thought was to get some sick-ass decals that looks more like a lot of crazy designs. Not so much a spray paint look, because that'll make your bike look like it got tagged up haha...
On the satin parts, I was going to do glossy black decals. On the glossy black parts I was going to put a satin or even dark grey decals. This way, it's not TOTALLY noticeable from far away but up close has a nice clean look.
I actually did this with my helmet and the idea was given to me from the CBR. I like it so much that I'm definitely gonna do it next summer.
Here's a pic of my helmet and what I'm talking about:

that idea sounds nice, looking forward to seeing how it comes out. oh and i deff dont wanna have it looking like some kids hit my shit up with some markers..lol so maybe i will have to approach the graffiti theme a different way.
so now its either the "stealth" theme or the graffiti theme...
3rd-Geer 09-10-2010, 08:12 PM Have fun with it man and do art on it that works for you. The reason I want decals is so I can take it off and switch it up if I want to one day. I have no clue what I want on mine, but I'll likely hit up friends who are designers and artists and let everyone take a stab at doing it in photoshop. Whoever wins.....I'll be riding their work!

lol Thanks a lot man!
Thinkmoto 09-10-2010, 08:34 PM Go to an auto body shop and see if they'll let you go through the paint chip books. I did this when I got my ATV frame painted years ago. many of the oem automakers have good selections and the paint is cheap.
Stogs415 09-10-2010, 08:36 PM ^will they paint the fairings for me?
Thinkmoto 09-10-2010, 08:40 PM Any good auto body shop can, if they can paint urethane bumpers they can do plastics.
flipit 09-11-2010, 02:44 PM I work at a body shop. Bring your bike in and let them look at it. Tell the estimator you will R&I your parts and bring them in and peel all the decals. All good shops will give you a free estmate.
rghrdrR6 11-29-2010, 04:30 AM I want to paint my bike too for next summer, but i can't make up my mind. Try http://www.modabike.com maybe it'll work for you.
