when i purchased my bike it had the soupys lowering link on it and i hate the way it handles. the person i bought the bike off of also gave me the original links. i was wondering how easy is it to get both of the soupys links to original ride height since they have to be identical,? does the bike have to be on the rear stand to do this? thanks!

Hey my buddy got an 05 r6 here a week or so ago so we had to do the EXACT same thing.

1. Put it on the rear stand, and also put a small motorcycle jack (we have a crafstman than worked well) under the lower fairing (it actually sits on the exhaust but it wont dent it or anything if you are careful)

2.Take out the links and lower the rear wheel off of the rear stand and the bike will be sitting on the lift.

3. Pop the stock links in, lift the rear wheel back up with the rear stand and tighten the links up.

It's not too hard, just be careful to not let the bike fall over. We also used the front stand so if you have one it'll help.

Remove soupys links, put in stock links. Done. You only really need a front stand and you dont technically even need that if you have a buddy that can hold the bike straight. I put a towel over the swingarm/fender to avoid scratching the undertail and use my shoulder to hold up the tail when I pull the bolts on the links out. Its a pretty simple job, though you likely have to put some weight on the exhaust with your foot to get it out of the way just enough....I had to on my 08, but I did not have to remove any exhaust mounts.

OP, are asking about adjusting the Soupy's links to the same size as the stock? I think just swapping it out for the stock dogbones would be a lot less time consuming, IF soupy's links will even extend as far as the stock dogbones.

i put the stock link back in. it was a pia trying to get the lower bolt out but after a while i figured a way to get it in. but the front forks are about 2 inches through the triple clamp, how do i get it back to stock height? does anyone have any pictures of stock height. when i loosen the triple clamp will the forks just fall through? thanks!

If you loosen the clamps they will come through further unless you have a triple tree stand or somehow support the bike with the front wheel off the ground (not using the forks to hold it up). You loosen the two bolts on the upper and lower triple for each side and it should move freely. I believe that you want the top of the tube/cap flush with the top triple on the 06-07s

You can use a few approaches.... none of them as good as a triple tree stand. You can hang the front end from rafters, use a jack under the bike, use jackstands on the pegs or sliders, etc. You need to make sure you can freely move the forks down through the tubes, so you'll need the bike's front end off the ground and its weight supported.

When I did my front. I had both wheels on the ground. I held the bike up well one of my friends pulled the forks down thru the triple tree. Once you get it to the desired level just tighten on of the bolts at the top and that will hold it in place. Then you don't have to have a friend hold the bike anymore. Tighten all the clamp bolts and your done. It's easy.

You can do this, but you have to be EXTRA careful to make sure that you have the same amount of fork showing on both sides or you will run into all sorts of funky issues, and you need two people, which is why I didnt mention it. Good looking out though.

ls/vtec... how hard was it to actually pull the fork tubes through the triple tree, do you need a lot of force or is it just a simple pull. also i unscrewed the two screws on the triple tree and the ones below it on the handlebars, but nothings budging. is there any other screws i have to unbolt?
