: Track bike paint mock-up

Just ordered some Armour Bodies race fairings and have spent a little time messing around in Photoshop to come up with a paint scheme. Decided I want to go with one of our product themes, in order to not spam here or try and advertise our stuff on the forum I've changed the web URL and blurred the logo.

What do you think of this paint scheme? My wheels are black with yellow rim tape BTW.

It won't quite be exact since this is using a stock R6 image and the race body is slightly different (and my exhaust kicks butt!), but the general idea is there.

Thoughts? Likes, dislikes?

Seems a little dull to me. Brighten up the yellow and orange.

Thanks. Bear in mind the tank is stock yellow, so the rest of the yellow will match that, I am not planning on painting the tank, just plastics. Granted the tank seems brighter due to being metal.

Ditch the graphics, looks cool to me. Flashy paint doesn't make you go fast, track time does.

i like it a lot. and i think it'll "pop" more once it's done. is that a navy on the headlight or jsut a weird view of the black?

Looks good. Not to flashy which IMO is nice :)

Yeah, but flashy paint makes for better pictures... ask Agg....

I would outline the yellow and orange with some blue or green pin striping. It just needs a little more.

looks like a german flag to me, that and its not bright enough for me, some white somewhere to breakup all that black would be good imo

Thanks for the comments and suggestions so far.

I haven't had time to modify anything yet in Photoshop. The darker theme is what I was intending but will play around with some brightness settings. Not sure if I want to add pinstripes around the orange and yellow stripes, not really my sort of taste. I agree some white might be a good contrast. Will see if something pops in my head as where to add it.

I have a set of Armour Bodies on order now, so once I get them and fit them I'll take a picture dead on sideways, front and back views and do a mock-up on the actual bike so it will be more accurate which will also help my painter (not painting it myself since I actually want it to be done right and look professional).

Would anyone be interested in having that Photoshop .psd file to mess around with for their own use (useful if you are thinking of getting Armour Bodies and want to experiment with color themes)? If so I can try to make that available once ready.

I thought that the orange was good for at least an extra 1-2HP? ha! :D

OK, decided to at least give the green pin stripe a shot and modify the shape of the stripes, not bad IMO. Also changed the front and back to yellow and the bottom blue graphic to green.

2nd image is without graphics.

Couldn't really find anything appropriate to add in white. The blurred portion of the bottom graphic is large white text which helps contrast some color when not blurred.

Is this a race bike or track day bike?

I like the last pic you posted with the graphics. Looks good.

I've personally never cared for darker paint schemes though. I've always felt they were a little harder to photograph and didn't show the details in the pics. I am not a professional photographer and would even go so far as to say I really dont know what I'm doing when taking pics.

I like the original look and think the updates work to. Since you offered I wouldn't mind having the psd to mess with so post that up when you get a chance.

Will do. The Armour Bodies just shipped out to me today, so will receive them next week. Give me another week or so after getting them fitted to have a .psd ready and I'll either post it here if possible or if not I can host it on one of my servers and post a link. I'm using the latest version of PS so not sure if it will open in earlier versions, but if I can save for compatibility to earlier versions I will do so.

Thanks.

Thanks! Those give some really good perspectives which will help me brainstorm a bit more to get ready for my own. I assume that's an 08 or beyond right?

:yes, its a 08, bodywork is Rockwall performance, very similar to Armor bodies and Sharkskinz.

Clean man I love it. My only comment is your number 61. Use a really nice font for that number and make it yellow and position it better.

I really like it!

Here's a quick one using one of R6rammy's photos.

I've got white number stickers so can't really change the color unless I try to find new stickers.

R6rammy, did you have any problems getting the lower to fit properly to the upper? I notice in your pics the front Dzus on the right side that section isn't quite flush and I'm having a similar issue. Are you using the stock headers or an aftermarket set?

I ran into an issue since I have Arrow headers for a 2006-2007 model which uses a larger diameter pipe on my 08 (fits fine on the bike) and it is obstructing the bodywork from clearing all the way around for a perfectly flush fit. I can just barely get it to attach on the right side front section but the left header pipe is touching the fairings on one spot. I've ordered some header wrap as well as heat shields so am not worried too much about the fairings melting (should I be even with wrap and shields?), but was curious if you had a similar issue.

I'm going to loosen that one header pipe as well and see if I can't manage to move it slightly more in/up if possible.

Decided I agree with you and will get numbers printed at the print shop to match the bike. Will use the yellow for the main number with an orange outline. Looks sweet in photoshop and illustrator is great for creating printable text/fonts.

I dont think it was an issue for me. It fit pretty good, I'd say 9.5/10 for flush fitting. I had a full Leo Vince exhaust, so no stock headers or cat, and I never had any clearance issues with the race fairings. The LV headers were close and did melt part of the air ducts on my stock fairing. When I was test fitting, I quite didnt "snap" the upper and lowers in place. The pics with the painted fairings are real flush, thats when I mounted them good and snapped it in place (front part where the lowers meet the uppers).

make the blue yellow and the orange blue

then highlight or pinstripe the blue with orange and the yellow with blue

Finally finished fitting and installing the Armour Bodies today. Aside from the one slight issue with the header pipe touching everything else is fine. Will use header wrap around that small section of the touching pipe as well as a heat shield, so it should be fine and hopefully nothing will melt.

Once I get some room to move the bike I'll get some perspective images taken and begin creating a final Photoshop mock-up for my paint job and once done will post that here for others to download.

Here's a picture of the current state of affairs along with the mess on my garage floor.

I haven't forgotten about offering a .psd Photoshop file, just haven't had decent enough weather lately to get the bike outside for some good shots and have been busy with work.

I managed to do another rough mock-up with it in the garage, but I don't want to send this file out as is.

I decided to keep it simple without any pinstripes or bright green (which would also bring the cost up) and now cannot decide between the orange or the white stripe on top. The white almost gives it that Yamaha Tech 3 feel ( a la Ben Spies), well, *almost* (minus the rider!)! :)

Will be going to paint in a couple weeks so at some point soon I'll decide on a final look.

Thanks for looking.
