: *lowering link??

this is the deal, i purchased a 07 r6 last year and the previous owner said it wasn't lowered. I've recently noticed that i have a vortex lowering link. My question is, How do i "raise" the bike? Do i just remove the two links? my school just added some tall speed bumps and I'm bottoming out every time. any input would be appreciated.
btw how can i get my hands on a pdf of the owners manual?

If it is indeed lowered, you need the stock dog bones to replace that with.

Also, here (http://www.r6messagenet.com/forums/r6-maintenance-technical/39254-r6-service-maintenance-repair-manual.html) is where you can find the service manuals

:stupic another thing to look at is your kickstand short then stock? if it is then you will need to replace it with a oem one, if you don't the bike once raised back up with will lean over way to much.

is it ok to ride with a lowered bike? i've heard that it messes with the physics of the bike. thanks for the info

Yeah, it's fine to ride like that. It will just handle better if it were raised back up.

I'm in the same boat. just bought my bike, and the guy had it lowered and has a swing arm extender. The kickstand is just hacked off too. But eh, it was a good price.

He said the lowering link was adjustable. Does that mean it can go back up to stock height? or just near?

If it's truly adjustable, and not multi-position, you should be able to achieve stock height. Actually, in the absence of ride height adjustment on the shock, I really favor those, although not for lowering more than 1 inch.

If you look at the dog bone, it should have nuts and a turnbuckle type assembly to it. If you do; you should be good.

pretty sure it's multi position... no turnbuckle. just has two pin holes on the rod from the frame to the shock/swingarm.

what would be the best way to get a dog bone?

just bought those two. he also had a swing arm extender on it, but that shouldn't need anything else, right?

People lower their bikes all the time. I was fortunate enough to find a member on the forum to sell me their stock bones and kickstand. Installing it was a PITA tho. I went from a slight bend at the knees (flatfoot) to tippy toe at a stop.
IMO since you ride higher its easier to lean too.:toocool:

i think after market lowering links adjustments are only
LOW and LOWER

never knew they have adjustable ones.

so the stock one i ordered had the triangular brace with it. is that usually in the lowering kit too?

also figured that a stock length chain would be necessary. it has a longer braided rear brake line, but he didn't get braided on the front lmao. kinda pointless if you ask me. i'll probably just make a little loop in it.

anything else i should know? thanks for the help guys.

that's awesome but it doesn't look as sturdy tho. how would you adjust both sides to the same length so that one link doesn't have more tension than the other. one of my buddys thinking of raising his bike too and this would be a great alternative.

They are plenty sturdy. Many drag racers use them. If I wanted an adjustable linkage it would be my only consideration.

They adjust from the center bolt. Only one linkage is used on the R6.
