: HELP - check engine code:21; bike won't start

Bike was running fine about 3 weeks ago, haven't rode or done anything to it since. Went to start it up Saturday and the check engine light came on with an error code 21, with temp reading 123*C. There's no way it would be that high as the bike wasn't even running. Put the bike back in the shed and tried again today - same error code, temp reading, bike won't start. Anyone have any ideas? I know the error code refers to something wrong with the temperature sensor, but I don't know how to fix it. Need help, thanks

So I found the problem after lifting my tank to check the coolant temperature sensor connections, and lo and behold:

As soon as I lifted the tank I knew what was wrong. Stinkin' vermon chewed right through the wires

Damn, it doesn't take long for something to make a little nest in a bike. I've seen crap like this a ton of times. At least it was obvious and an easy fix

Yeah wasn't hard to fix, just had to splice and solder some wires together, but still a PITA.

Trust me, the mousetraps have been set
