Alright guys, I may just be havin a newb moment here, cuz I'm struggling with my bar ends.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4537200333
I bought these bar ends for my 05 R6 and I can't figure out how to install them. It didnt come with any instructions, and I figured it would be a simple install. So I pulled off the factory bar end, and its just hollow inside the handle. The bar ends that I bought won't fit in the end of the handle, and there is no way to tighten it in either.
Am I missing something here? Any help is much appreciated. TIA.

well first off the stock bar ends are one of the best made. the only ones that could top that are the heavy weight steel ones made at earache motorsports (http://www.ericblattert.com/). the stock bar ends are there to cancel out the vibration at the clip ons. like many riders i know on some rides the vibration is so bad that the hands go numb. i tried out bar end sliders and they suck, i ended up putting on the stock ones back on. then i got a set from earache motorsports (http://www.ericblattert.com/), these are actually better.
now lets get back on track with yours. the rubber expansion plug type bar ends dont really slide into place because the rubber is actually has a larger diameter than the opening of the clip on. you need to sand the rubber down. get a bolt and a nut and put in on the drill. run the drill and sand down the rubber. once it fits in the clip on, put it together with the barend. then slide it in the clip on. now just tighten the allen head screw. the rubber itself should keep the nut inside from turning. just keep tightening until its nice and tight. just keep checking on how tight it is from time to time.
do everyone a favor and do product review for this item. im curious to see if it vibrates loose or if you feel any vibration at the clip on.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I didn't realize that you had to sand down the rubber piece, but its no big deal.
I'll post up about how they are after a couple rides.
And as for earache motorsports, I'm assuming their clutch sliders are good as well? If so, I'll be ordering a pair of them today.

Wow, those bar ends suck. I went out for a quick ride, and noticed a big difference. I never had a problem with vibrations from the stock bar ends, but I noticed it right away with these bar ends. I've already put the stock ones back on and threw away the ones I got off ebay.
What a waste of $20. Oh well, you live you learn.

alot of us took a gamble with "aftermarket" bar ends. i did with the bar end sliders, those sucked also. so i traded those slider type for another pair of stock units with another member here. i ended up machining the extra set i had to make a custom mount for a bar end mirror. but if you want something better than the stock ones try sending EBLATTERT@cs.com an email about the heavy weight steel bar ends he has. i had a set machined for those crg bar end mirrors.

Well, I'm glad I read this thread before buying any. I had plans on buying some bar end sliders just in case.

Thanks man. Already sent him an email about the bar ends, and a clutch slider.
