Since I don't really participate on the forum as much as I used to, I've forgotten which forum screen names are associated with their facebook REAL names.


I saw this on my FB feed just now and it pains me to think that something this horrible could happen to such good people:


As many of you already know. Matthew has cancer and was receiving treatment. As of the beginning of this week, he has been taking off all treatments and sent home under hospice care. The cancer won. We prayed for a miracle and didn't get it. So I am putting a prayer request out there....Matthew is in his final stage of life. Please pray that he goes peacefully and pain free and that god reassures him, his family will be ok (over much time) and taken care of. As much as it pains me to let him go, I know he will finally be pain free.



This was roughly 4 hours ago. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes by posting this here.

then I saw a post regarding this and I immediately went to his FB profile page to prove that my line of thought was incorrect.

Awww man..... just read about this on FB as well. Very very sad to hear of this, I too was really hoping he'd pull through. I was amazed at the positive attitude he kept throughout this whole ordeal.... def shows a stand up guy. There were MANY "RIP" posts on his FB page because his wife phrased a post that sounded like he had passed. I've already put a link of this thread on his FB page for him and his family to see how well respected he is.

I'm sure he got a kick out of all the RIP comments, both here and FB. :-)

Man, I will truly miss the conversations me and Matt used to have. When his cancer came out of remission we became pretty good friends and would chat back and forth over text all the time for hours. I'm so glad that I was able to get to know him better. He was a good friend, a great guy, and an even better father to his family.

His passion for riding never quit, just like he didn't quit fighting cancer. He fought the hell out of this cancer. The chemo treatments and him feeling sick wasn't enough to keep him from working on his bike, installing new lines and pads, bleeding em, etc. He was able to get a handful of rides in over the last few months despite being completely exhausted and hurting.

I miss him so much already.

Ok some people did not get the funeral service information. It will be june 28,2012. We will all meet at Purcell chapel beyers funeral home at 9a.m. we will leave there at 930 and go by motorcade to the cemetery site, which will be at Florida National Cememtery in bushnell,fl. The grave side service will start at 10a.m. if anyone has any questions please message me. I know some of you had mentioned sending flowers, if you would like to please message me and ill send you the address of the funeral home. That is where we r sending them all. They recommended Martha's funeral home. They are closed for the day. I will call in the AM.

For now I will dig up or anyone else can in the meanwhile pics of some awesome floral arrangements for funerals.

Funeral home said the cemetery only allows 3 pieces but will get ours in. Worst case they make sure the family gets it.

I'll condense eeryones best wishes and comments into a PDF or something and send it down to Martha's too. Get in by tomorrow morning. It doesn't have to be money. If you want your best wishes sent put em in this thread at least.

I'll post up everything for approval or voting before I make any moves on this.

I know. I hadn't talked to him in a bit. :( I am so glad I got to be better friends with him over the past 6 months or so. He's a REAL cool dude and a great guy in general. I'll be helpin him with his bike someday in heaven with him. :fact

He has kids right? Can we do something for them?

He has two young boys. A lot of times, the parents already have an education fund setup for the kids and when people request to donate they have that info. I would need contact info for his wife to do something like that. Maybe when the obituary is posted we can get his kids names and wife's name, etc from that and send them a savings bond or something if there is no other info ya know. I dunno. Just an idea. That's what us italians give kids at holy communion parties and stuff.

I am not great at handling losses like this, so I am just focusing on organizing this. I need you guys to come up with ideas and soon.

He can make them up in black, white, possibly other colors. Any thoughts let me know so I can have him start working on them. K, just talked to the flower shop.

We have some options, like plants, plant dishes, etc. Nothing big. The funeral Sprays start at $75 and go up to $200. I think we should go big bros. Ge the biggest spray we can. I have sent out a couple $200 ones and they were legendary. I'll post pics of the one we got for Ricky. It was about $200 and MArtha's said they could make it manly.

Otherwise I am hoping she tells me they have something setup for the kids and we can donate right to that. Like I mentioned earlier, we can get them savings bonds which is a great gift for a kid. you pay $100 for a $200 bond. It matures when they do and will be worth double at that point or something.

With my donation to make things an even number we have $300 left now to send the family or to do something else beyond flowers. Lemme know what you think guys, and I will let you know when I talk to Matt's wife.

OK guys, I just spoke with Matt's wife Leann. She must have thanked me 5 times for all of our support. From the laguna fund and idea to this now too. She already knew about the spray we ordered.

Anyway, they don't have anything setup for the sons yet. They just haven't had the time to. So I asked if the savings bond was a good idea, and she said yes. I also told her about a card we are going to send with everyone's best wishes.

Soo, with that being said, we have $304.34 now after the flowers and including my donation.

If it still works the same, we can get each son a $300 savings bond with that money. I know they go in increments. I'll make up any difference. No worries.

so we can still collect money and it will be going straight to the sons in the form of a savings bond. It's the only real method or option we have. Let me know if you guys wanna keep donating or whatever. I will not be able to get them until tomorrow no matter what. I just can't get out of work today.

I had a few savings bonds that people bought for me when I was born, and they're a god send when you're stepping into adulthood and trying to get together scratch for your first car, or security deposit on your first apartment or something - and it's a nice reminder of the people that bought for you - or hopefully in this case - your dad.

Word. I had a few savings bonds that people bought for me when I was born, and they're a god send when you're stepping into adulthood and trying to get together scratch for your first car, or security deposit on your first apartment or something - and it's a nice reminder of the people that bought for you - or hopefully in this case - your dad.

OK guys, I just spoke with Matt's wife Leann. She must have thanked me 5 times for all of our support. From the laguna fund and idea to this now too. She already knew about the spray we ordered.

Anyway, they don't have anything setup for the sons yet. They just haven't had the time to. So I asked if the savings bond was a good idea, and she said yes. I also told her about a card we are going to send with everyone's best wishes.

Soo, with that being said, we have $304.34 now after the flowers and including my donation.

If it still works the same, we can get each son a $300 savings bond with that money. I know they go in increments. I'll make up any difference. No worries.

so we can still collect money and it will be going straight to the sons in the form of a savings bond. It's the only real method or option we have. Let me know if you guys wanna keep donating or whatever. I will not be able to get them until tomorrow no matter what. I just can't get out of work today.
