Carofranky76 02-12-2006, 12:21 AM It would be awesome if everyone in Texas would get together this summer. Unfortunately, this summer, I won't be able to go to the convention, but it would be nice if us texans would get together for a texan r6 convention like in the hill country or so. I will be working in Austin this summer, but won't be able to make it to deals gap, so I was wondering if we could meet up somewhere to get to know each other. It would sound like fun, especially riding through the hill country. Let's see if we could get something set up.
TexasR6 02-12-2006, 06:22 AM Sounds good to me. I'm moving this to the South Central section so everyone can find it. We'll start taking location and timeframe ideas there.
6NStonz 02-12-2006, 08:02 AM Im down but what time this summer are we talking about? Ill be moving to Phoenix in late May early June. I would meet pretty much anywhere cuz I like to ride. Lemme know.
garlandrx7 02-12-2006, 02:34 PM I think that would be cool... maybe set up a BBQ and a cruise on a back road...
mpower3330 02-12-2006, 02:51 PM i think that would be a great idea..just tell me when and where and ill bring some R6 buddies as well
Carofranky76 02-12-2006, 03:05 PM I gotta go to my roommates wedding on May 23rd and will be gone that whole week, so maybe May 26-29 (memorial day weekend) or June 2-4. Anyone have any ideas on where to do this, I was thinking like Austin/Santone area or East Texas. Anyone know these areas well enough to decide if one's better than the other.
Well if you do it earlier like the weekend of may 13th or Late August like the weekend of the 19th or later I could make it. I will be riding highway 16 for spring break with some buddies near San Antonio so I can let you know how that is after I ride it. The reason my dates are the way they are is because I am working in Arizona for the summer.
Carofranky76 02-12-2006, 03:24 PM May 10 is last day of classes, so really just anytime after then except for the wedding.
RowdyRods 02-12-2006, 05:36 PM Is there anyone from the San Antonio area??
garlandrx7 02-13-2006, 01:07 AM I think Austin would be good. the Rx7 and RX8 people have a state wide meet there and there are some really curvy nice roads.. last time i was there we saw a nice sportbike cruise going on. There is or was also time to party (we all stayed in the Omni hotel- got a group discount and it was like one or two streets over from 6th street) We could make it into a weekend if you guys wanted.. or if that is too big of an event we could just cruise for a while and all go back to our own cities!
damn you guys are making me want a bike like NOW! you better not have one b4 i get mine!!
Tex.. im ready to go look but you are never home!! tell julie and lets make an afternoon of it!!!
garlandrx7 02-13-2006, 03:12 AM hmmm, just a thought but 1 small differance between a 7 and a bike... the 7 has a trunk... yeh im blonde.. anyways im sure we can think of something
TexasR6 02-13-2006, 03:54 AM We would need a chase truck to carry Kasandra's shoes....
Lets find out who all is coming and we'll try to find a somewhat central location for everyone.
Carofranky76 02-13-2006, 11:52 AM I'll definitely go. If school is still in session, I'll be in Lubbock, otherwise Austin.
dfw04R6 02-16-2006, 01:42 PM Im down but what time this summer are we talking about? Ill be moving to Phoenix in late May early June. I would meet pretty much anywhere cuz I like to ride. Lemme know.
Wassup bro? You need to just stay in TX :toocool:
Carofranky76 02-16-2006, 01:46 PM Heck yea, no other state is good enough for Texans to leave Texas.
mulatto 02-17-2006, 11:00 AM I'd be up for this. Anyone else ever been down Devil's Backbone that runs through Winberley (a lil south of Austin). It'd make an awesome road to include on a little sportbike tour. Constant twisties and some sweepers but nothing a newER riding couldn't handle with a little reduced speed.
I know it's a blast in a '98 Cobra to get the tailend out through there :YEA
BTW, anytime except the weekend of June 3rd is cool with me... I'll be in my cousins wedding....I don't think he'd understand my reasoning for trying to back out for a ride through the mountains. :-)
mpower3330 02-17-2006, 11:56 AM i live in dallas and im up for any meeting place..you know the texas whether is gunna be great for long distance ridin too!! :toocool:
Carofranky76 02-17-2006, 01:03 PM I'd be up for this. Anyone else ever been down Devil's Backbone that runs through Winberley (a lil south of Austin). yeah we could do that, and I was also thinking hwy 1431 from Ceder Park to Marble Falls.
Carofranky76 02-17-2006, 01:07 PM And the piece of 2769 between 1431 and 620.
garlandrx7 02-17-2006, 01:44 PM So is everyone wanting to do the Austin area? and is there a way to make this a poll?
Carofranky76 02-17-2006, 03:09 PM yeah, sorry battle, I read through the thread you started in August about going down 1431. I was in Austin at the time, but wasn't a member of the forum, and most importantly, didn't have a bike. Otherwise i woulda gone.
mulatto 02-17-2006, 04:44 PM yeah we could do that, and I was also thinking hwy 1431 from Ceder Park to Marble Falls.
Yep. That'd be good too. Good eats along the way.
garlandrx7 02-18-2006, 12:16 AM OK i made a poll about location, so you guys please go check it out.. after we get the location determined we can figure out the when and all that...
TheGreatDane 02-19-2006, 12:28 AM Yo, I'm in San Marcos (between Austin and San Antonio). We have a pretty cool bike night here on Thursdays. If any of you folks are around, it's worth checking-out.
Carofranky76 04-02-2006, 07:04 PM Bump.... anyone still interested so I can make plans and stuff.
dangerousR6 04-02-2006, 07:38 PM Sound fun, me and the wifey are going to the R.O.T. rally in Austin on the first weekend in June. We go every year,, it's a blast, plus there's tons of sportbikes not just harley riders......
Carofranky76 04-02-2006, 08:53 PM yeah, well we can choose to get together the same weekend as the ROT. There are millions of bikes in town already. Could be fun. Unless someone has other ideas.
coffeyR6 04-03-2006, 10:45 AM I will have to Vote to meet up at the ROT rally. Great fun had by all.
:cheers :boob :cheers :boob :cheers :boob :cheers :boob :cheers
Carofranky76 04-03-2006, 02:02 PM Well, unless anyone really can't make it, we can shoot for ROT weekend. Here (http://www.rotrally.com/) is the website for the rally. It says that you can preregister if you want to do that. Registration is $45 for the weekend and gets you into all the events planned. Or we can not do that, do our own thing, and if we do decide to go, we can register on-site. Also, if we're gonna try to do a group buy for lodging, we need to get it done before may 10th or so according to the website. BTW the ROT weekend is June 1-4. How many people are down for this, or is it just gonna be 2 of us?? Please let me know as soon as possible.
n8dawgsmu 04-09-2006, 07:24 AM I was planning on goign to ROT but i have to wait to find out what will be going on at work. I would love to get together with some R6rs so il keep checking this post, but i would say I am in.
BlueBalls 04-11-2006, 08:23 AM I'm up for it. I live in San Marcos, so it's easy for me. Mom lives on Lake Travis along with brother and are going to ROT as well. Although, I was originally going to decline due to thread leaders comments about the Longhorns, but decided against when I realized he was from an ignorant part of the world - Lubbock! Another prodigy of public education, oh how I weep for the future. LOL Here's the irony I'm thinking about buying a house in Lubbock to be closer to work. I'm a Consultant in the oil & gas business.
zer0hacker 04-11-2006, 08:49 AM Whoa! how long has this been going on!? i am way late! i live in laredo 2hrs south of San Antonio. im in if its in austin. Long Live 6th street! :cheers

BlueBalls 04-11-2006, 12:57 PM Master Hacker: I'm in! Long live 6th street..4th street and 5th street and the Omni Four Seasons downtown. Let's make it happen.
Carofranky76 04-11-2006, 03:59 PM Longhorns on deez ....
Carofranky76 04-11-2006, 04:00 PM Whoa! how long has this been going on!? i am way late! i live in laredo 2hrs south of San Antonio. im in if its in austin. Long Live 6th street! :cheers

ROT weekend June 1-4
BlueBalls 04-11-2006, 05:13 PM Whoa there young miss Carol.
It seems that this person is offering his dental floss to those who might seems interested.
Thanks but not for me, I don't swing that way. Oh, by the way-when was the last time ya'll won anything? I keep forgeting.
Carofranky76 04-11-2006, 06:55 PM ouch. So, when did you graduate from U of T? Or when are you gonna graduate from there???
BlueBalls 04-11-2006, 07:37 PM No harm...Got you though :)
1990...Although originally started in San Antonio at Trinity University.
And you? I've actually been looking on-line at the real estate there. Considering getting a home to be closer to overall area of work. Funny huh.
When are you getting here? I haven't moved yet. I used to have a home in Hobbs too.
Carofranky76 04-11-2006, 08:03 PM Graduate in December with bachelors in Civil Engineering. Just asking you if you gaduated or went there because I hate all those punks that are all about the 'horns, but have never stepped foot on campus nor do they have, or ever had, a chance at going there.
Will be moving to Austin the week of May 15.
BlueBalls 04-11-2006, 09:23 PM Congrats! No it wasn't my first choice. I was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona and was intent on going to Arizona State there in Tempe. Grandmother and mom had different ideas. Was accepted to Harvard although didn't qualify for financial aid. Mom and grandma are catholics and footin' the bill, so it was either Trinity in San Antonio or Notre Dame. I liked the weather and girls more in San Antonio. Transferred my third year. Convinced them that Trinity didn't have a good business school...Now I tell my ex-wife that I demand the girls go to the school of their choice, regardless of our opinions. But I've got plenty of time, they are only 7 and 6.
You're only a month away. I know you'll like it. You just have to get used to this horrible, muggy humidity. You'll sweat like a plantation mule out here, but you'll be able to ride everyday. And the girls wear less over here. The river from Austin all the way down and passed New Braunfels is going to blow your mind. Party central during the day...6th street or the Riverwalk at night
Carofranky76 04-11-2006, 09:39 PM Yeah, I've spent the last two summers in Austin, so I know how it is. As far as going to Tech, I grew up 30 mins from here, so I've been a Red Raider all my life. My first choice in school was Notre Dame, but no way my parents were gonna be able to afford it. Plus, Indiana sucks (haha McCormick). This'll be my first summer in Austin with a bike. Can't wait.
BlueBalls 04-11-2006, 10:19 PM Kick Ass! I really like Lubbock and that small town Plainview north of you. And the girls over there. I love being from somewhere else! They are VERY friendly. Some of them can make my motel room look like a crime scene when we get through. Damn I love those girls. Austin just gives you a bigger pool to play in AND YOUR from out of town, so that's an edge for you.
And like Lubbock FINE as hell.
What is a hoosier any damn way? And more importantly, who cares?
Odessa Sucks ass from Satan so for me that really is out.
Where are you going to be staying? House, friends, family?
Carofranky76 04-12-2006, 11:03 AM ugghh, havent decided yet, last two summers I lived in an apt. but the company I worked for gave me a housing allowance and the one i'm working for this year isn't. I need someone in the austin area who is willing to have me sleep in their extra room or living room for a summer.
dangerousR6 04-12-2006, 11:32 AM We need a list of who all is going to the ROT and where they are coming from...
1. DangerousR6+wife, Greenville
2.

3. Zer0hacker, Laredo
4. BlueBalls, San Marcos (And hopefully my ex-wife)
5. BlueBalls mom: the 5'1" Ass Kicker, Lake Travis
Carofranky76: My mom has a house out on Lake Travis and she never stays there. I can't promise anything, but I'll ask. You know what it's like when your mom doesn't know who you want to put in her house...It's like trying to get the keys to her Mustang or her 350Z...HaHa :swordfigh
Carofranky76 04-12-2006, 05:17 PM cool, let me know what she says
BlueBalls 04-12-2006, 06:24 PM No problem...Get back when I've greased the wheels so to speak.
zer0hacker 04-13-2006, 06:29 AM the dragonslayers (a firefighter bike club of mostly crusers) are going. so i can make the trip up there with them. they asked if i wanted to stay with them at whatever hotel they are getting, but i think id rather not (eventhough im a firefighter i dont get along that great with them)
ok so the ppl coming from San An. and San Ma. is there some plan to meet up somewhere for the trip up? like san mar or something?
BlueBalls 04-13-2006, 07:56 AM Hack: I have not heard a thing at this point. I guess we'll all just wave as we see each other coming and going down the road. Hopefully we'll get smart and make some decisions or at least start tossing some ideas around.
Any thoughts everyone.
zer0hacker 04-13-2006, 08:12 AM Hey, where are all the Dallas/FW ppl? i thought we had a bunch in that area? like yoda and TexasR6 ? or are they to preoccupied with the GAP? i thought there would be more ppl then this? maybe the word still isnt out? we might have to start PMing ppl.
BlueBalls 04-13-2006, 08:55 AM Who knows, maybe they don't like us. I'm sure as it gets closer we'll start hearing or rather seeing more people wanting to participate and coordinate.
Are you in the valley?
zer0hacker 04-13-2006, 11:57 AM im on the border of mexico in Laredo Tx. 2hrs south of san antonio
zer0hacker 04-13-2006, 11:58 AM i think i have to pass though san marcus to get to austin right?
Carofranky76 04-13-2006, 02:22 PM I'm just hoping I get my bike out of the shop in time.
BlueBalls 04-14-2006, 08:44 PM Hack: Yeah thru San Marcos if your coming up 35 from San Antonio. Nice to know we are neighbors during the summer. Every year I take my 2 little girls and ex-wife down to San Benito in the valley to see my ex's grandmother. The girls love Mexico and the beaches. San Marcos is pretty cool, not snobby like most college towns.
Franky: What's up. What's wrong with your bike? Oh yeah I found this Harley Custom V-Rod that is orange framed and painted with chrome everywhere else. I'd like to buy it just for the damn ROT...hehehe. But I might just go ahead and cruise the R6 just to piss off the hard ass harley boys who hate crotch rockets.hehehe What do you think? As a matter of fact I just spent a couple of days over there in Lubbock meeting with realtors, sucked really. I'm not a patient person and I hate shopping except for shit I want. Always been left up to my wife to decide upon. Kind of lazy I know but I don't care if the kitchen is squared off or with an island or what color the den is. Know what I mean?
Carofranky76 04-14-2006, 09:18 PM Ha ha, yeah, as long as the roof doesn't leak and if the living room/den is set up in a way so that you can have a perfect surround sound then, it's all good. My bike is in the shop, I wrecked it, and is getting fixed. Actually, right now, they are still doing the estimate on it. If the insurance totals it, im gonna buy it back from them and switch the plastics and tank to make it a yellow bike. Don't know how long it's gonna take but I 'magine it's gonna take a while. Should'a let me know you were gonna be in town. And as far as the chopper goes, I would rather take the 6 and be different. If you go in a chopper (unless it really stands out) you will be one of the crowd, but I guarantee a guy riding by on a R6 will get everyone's attention (good or bad).
BlueBalls 04-14-2006, 10:13 PM Franky: Yeah, I know what you mean. I like being the non-conformist anyway. I really didn't think I was going to have the time to head out for 2 days, but I did and just took off to get it started and over with at the same time.
How in the hell did you total your bike already? Are you okay? Time to order a new one...Don't like the Raven? Going to the Yellow huh? Why don't you just go order the R1 LE? Next time I head your way I'll let you know. Thought about mentioning something, but really didn't want to bother you or ask for a tour guide with honest opinions instead of an agent claiming they aren't a salesperson when we all know they only get paid when they sell something...SALESPERSON. Checked out 2 houses in Plainview as well. Like the small town feel, but everything seems at least 45 minutes away. But who knows.
Carofranky76 04-14-2006, 10:25 PM I bought the Raven for the obvious "red & black" paint scheme (school pride). But after I got it, I decided that I shouldof gotten the yellow. Looks great and you're more visible. The bike got messed up the other day when I was coming back home from school. An old lady pulled out in front of me and I layed her down. I know for sure I'm not ready for an R1.
BlueBalls 04-14-2006, 10:51 PM Yeah, yeah red and black. The yellow is kick ass I must admit, even though I've got the blue. Well hopefully you bent the frame just a little bit, make sure your adjuster totals the bike, so you can get a brand new one, instead of trying to fix the old one. Plus you'll be able to buy back the first one. Two is better than one. Think your're going to make ROT?
Carofranky76 04-14-2006, 11:32 PM If they total it, i might buy a new one before ROT if I get the check in time.
BlueBalls 04-15-2006, 12:08 AM They've got plenty of time. What about your summer job here, do you have another vehicle? You suing the old lady? Sorry to hear about all this man. I feel for you. Thank God your safe, and the old lady she okay too. How many miles did you have on the bike?
Carofranky76 04-15-2006, 12:21 AM I have my truck to drive around, but it's not the same. I start the summer job on May 29. Not suing the old lady, but her insurance is paying for hospital, and bike. I have 2500 miles on it. I bought it in January.
BlueBalls 04-15-2006, 01:29 AM Damn! I can't believe it. Sorry. Hope you get you a new bike in time.
Carofranky76 04-15-2006, 11:53 AM yeah, me too. Now if we can just get more people on here to go to ROT...
BlueBalls 04-15-2006, 01:03 PM Well then you better start doing some recruiting since you've got all this free time on your hands.
zer0hacker 04-18-2006, 07:09 AM im still waiting for more to chime in as well. . .. . ..
:jump
damn...yall are some chatters...haha
I won't be able to make it down, I work weekends at the bar, and since I will be missing 2 Sturdays in a row for Deals Gap the second week of June, I can't miss the one before too...need the spending $$!!
Not sure of Dave's plans, but I know he is going to Deals with me.
zer0hacker 04-20-2006, 01:26 PM :bump: dam this thing is dieing fast
Carofranky76 04-20-2006, 03:44 PM I gotta find out if I'm gonna have a bike by then.
