i was curious as to what my options are for the lower clamps. i think mine might be bent but i'm not finding any clamps on ebay for a 2005 r6. i was wondering if i can use the clamps from a r1? i see more of those on ebay. i'm waiting until i have no other choice than to go to the stealership, they want like $340.

so can i use the r1 clamps? what year?

that sucks that they're different sizes.

i have another question, how easy should it be to get the forks in the clamps? do you have to use force or should it slide wight in? i notice on American choppers they sometimes bang them in with a mallet, but those are custom bikes.

i'm asking because i'm trying everything to make sure i can't use the clamps i already have and that they are definitely bent. i loosen the nut on the upper tree to straighten out the bars. i then bolted the axle to the forks and tried to put them into the clamps. the forks went into the lower clamps almost freely, but i'm going to have to muscle the forks into the upper clamps. is this normal? would the forks have gone into the lower clamps if the clamps were bent?

any help, tip, or advise would be appreciated. i know what i have to do but i've never done it before and i don't want to break anything.

actually the forks are the same size for the 05r6 but the geometry will be off.

Try ebay. I seen complete front ends going for $350

wait...which forks are the same size as the 05r6? which year? what do you mean by the geometry would be off? speak to me as if i were a 10 year old because i don't know much about these things i can only bolt them together.

i wish i had gone that route on ebay. i payed like $340 for these forks on ebay with no trees.

dont take anything you "Learn" from american chopper to your shop they are idiots. you should be able to find a whole tripple tree assembly on ebay for cheap, also ive had good luck with a place called willies cycle salvage in camphill alabama.
