I rev at 12k rpm and ride the clutch. I can take off as fast as some of the R1's.

ride out the clutch. my clutch on a quick take off is not fully engaged until im doing 35-40 mph. dont let the rvs drop below 8000. im far from a great drag guy so im sure some will give much better tips than i can. i did rip an 06 vette and wrx sti yesterday over and over we even pulled from eighty and i torched em both. just thought i would add that :)

most people go with a -1+2 (one less tooth in front and two more teeth in the rear)
plus the 520 chain is lighter and they say is the best bang for our bikes. I will be doing it after I get rid of that cat.

It's like putting gears in a car, the best mod I ever did to my mustang, except the $2k h/c/i package.

going down 1 in front helps.. also using schnitz racing tie strap on front end.. best 20$ u will even spend. on liter bikes it makes up .4 in 1/4.. prolly not that much on600, but helps.. best thing.. practice.. more seat time.. be consistent in launches. more u do better u will get. its all about timing and sliding clutch and apply throttle. try gearing it if you havent already, yes 520 helps too. then make couple passes at say 4k rpms, then 5k, then 6l, them 6500 and so on. get urself a log book or notebook. write down all stuff from timeslip including day, time of run and temp out side. also u can keep track of tire pressure and how many passes on clutch or tires.. write it down in notes when u change something or replace something.. make all these runs the same.. dont try to be a hero each time.. try to be fast, but consistent.. wire down launch rpms on each pass as well.. then go back and analyze them and see what worked best.. its hard to compare if each pass isnt made about same.. so if u try to be hero on one and not another.. then 60ft will show that. be smooth. also if u can watch video of urself launching.. watch body position, rpm, lights, clutch sliding and listen for sounds of bike.

next thing to do.. is learn.. everytime i go to track i go to line and watch other bikes as often as i can. i see there body position, launch rpms and such. also ask around.. ask what there running for 60ft and tire pressure or ask someone thats been there for long time to watch u and give u tips.. most people will always be glad to help. after 15 years if dragracing bikes i still learn everytime i go to track. i have ridden almost every kind of bike from every size. stock wheelbase, long bikes, wheelie bar bikes, nitrous bikes, big motor bikes, and turbos.

last.. loose some weight.. hehe on u or bike.. 600s weight makes huge difference.. less weight better. i think like every 20-25 lbs is good for .1 in 1/4. run as much tire pressure as u can without spinning.. this will help the mph be higher. try gearing changes.. try -1 or -2, or -1 and +2.. too much gear will help 60ft and hurt ET. but if you have notebook u can see exactly what woks and what doesnt. also log book is great for bracket racing.. u can see what bike runs in summer spring, night and day.. so if it cools down.. u can dial bike in. started this when i started racing turbo busa. that way i could write my tune up in book. my boost controller settings and ramp rates. same with my nitrous R1. i write down all nitrous ramps, timers, delay and build and start percentages.. really helps.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but do you rev it up like that in first?
And does the wheel come up at all?

i disagree i rev at 6k half way dump the clutch and ride out the 2nd half, so far i have never been beat off the line, now i know there are better people out there but so far i havent been... so if you try the 12k and it doesnt work try my way too either one you use you will have to tweak it to fit you best

Since its a wet clutch, riding it isn't going to cause alot of extra wear. right?

Mine is 6 inch over swing arm -2 +4 on the sprocket 520... launch 6-7K RPM dump the clutch... with the strap it comes up about 1-2 inch and it holds it in first until i shift into 2nd... also my MPH on the top is better too with the -2 +4 as well as the 60ft...

Hmm, all this high rev and feather the clutch recommendations. Far to often what makes fastest person off the line is based upon a theory Darwin came up with years ago.....The person with the biggest balls!
