I've done up a few "member spot-lights" on the forum here and there and aside from the article being very popular they help us all get to know the members better and showcase things about them! This time around we've have an added BONUS!
This month around I really wanted to do some custom forum artwork and once I got the idea BuddyLuv was the obvious choice! His graphics talents and drive to help members over the years is nearly unmatched!
SO check out the article and the ALL NEW forum wallpapers courtesy of Buddy at the end!
Shane: Tell us a little about yourself Buddy :)
Richard: My name is Richard Mitchell (Buddy) and I’ve been riding motorcycles on and off for just over five years, the off part due to wrecks. I’m 31 years old and I’ve lived in Jacksonville Florida my whole life. I work for a company called Red-E Productions which I’ve been with for seven years now. I’m a Flash programmer (websites), Director programmer (multimedia cds) and I also do some Photoshop work. I love my job and the people I work with, I couldn’t see me working any other place.
Shane: How did you get into riding and R1's?
Richard: I got into motorcycles when I got hired on at Red-E. The owner and two other guys had sport bikes, plus two more purchased bikes after I bought mine. They tried to talk me into a 600 but I wasn’t hearing it. I purchased my 02 R1 and in four short months thought I was a pro, until I low-sided into a guardrail and totaled my baby. A few months later I had a new R1 and a little more respect for the curves. I still have my 02 that I’ve flipped twice now. Man I can’t ride worth a damn…. J
Shane: When did you join the forum?
Richard: I joined the forum back in early 02 when I started looking up everything on the net to do with the R1. I don’t think there’s a better knowledge base for the R1 anywhere. I’ve met some really great people here over the years. Not only is it a great place to learn and talk about bikes, I can get all my world news in Off-Topic. Lol
Shane: It's no secret that your one of the resident photoshop guru's on the forum and that you help out members with graphic work ANY chance you get. Tell us about it.
Richard: Along with bikes, Photoshop came with the job. Aside from some help from our art director, I’m self taught. My work on the forum started with me changing motorcycle color schemes for members. I ended up making myself a sig and some other members liked it and asked if I would do one for them. It didn’t take too long for the pm box to fill up. I also get requests every once and a while to make wallpapers. These started out pretty much like the sigs did. I made one for myself and posted it, people liked what I did and asked me for one.
Shane: Do you ever get overwhelmed?
Richard: I’m always happy to help fellow forum members out. I never like to tell anyone no. If you decide to ask you should know that there are almost always people waiting in front of you and I’m notoriously slowwwww. Lol Sometimes it’s just a case of me having a lot of real work at my job. After a long week/month at work the last thing I want to see is a computer screen. I try to put a lot of creative effort into each sig or wallpaper I do, some take 6 hours or more. I don’t like to rush it, I want it to come out right. I want it to be something that you’re going to enjoy looking at for the next however many post or however long you use the wallpaper for.
Shane: Any last words?
Richard: I’d like to thank Shane for this member spotlight and for continuing to make this the best damn forum on the planet. Also, I want to thank you guys/ladies that make this such a great place to hang out.
Peace!
-Buddy
