It may cause the clutch to were out faster. 500 at the dealer. About 150 if you do it yourself.

I dont know if this matters but a 999 has a dry clutch unlike the wet clutches on our bikes. I would think constantly slipping a dry clutch would naturally cause it to wear faster. But clutchin up our bikes isnt as bad as launching them in a drag race which doesnt seem to hurt them all that much. I mean i am sure it accelarates wear but not too much.

I clutch up my 02 w/25000 miles. Still on the stock clutch. It is wearing, but I would say I have been clutching wheelies since 6000 miles. I am going to be putting a new clutch in here before too long, I will post up if the basket is damaged, but I would say no.......

2nd gear fixes normally come to around 1200 dollars. You have to split the cases and tear the entire engine down.

As for the wheelies, it shouldn't hurt your clutch basket at all. You will wear out your plates faster doing it, but a clutch rebuild kit is under 150 bucks so if you like wheelies and can accept the cost, go for it, no biggie. Just remember, long wheelies also starve your engine of oil, shortening its life, and prematurely wear out your front fork seals.

This is the real question to ask yourself, is it worth the engine damage? "Clutching wheelies" usually ends up breaking clutch plates, that will then fall into the running engine internals and can lead to some massive carnage.
