each state differs. some have helmet laws and others don't so you either need to carry one with you if you are gonna go across a few states or check ach state that you are going to be riding through to see if you need one cuz you will get pulled in a helmat law state for not having one.

YOU NEED TO BE RIDING WITH ONE ANYWAYS.
IF I DIDN'T HAVE ONE ON LAST SEPT. 20TH I WOULD BE DEAD.
I ENDOED GOING AROUND 60 MPH ON I-35 IN DENTON, TEXAS
AFTER BEING AT LONESTAR BIKER BASH. WAS NOT MY FAULT
SOMEONE CUT ACROSS TRAFFIC AND CAUSED EVERYONE TO LOCK ON BRAKES I HAD NO WERE TO GO BUT HEAD FIRST.
BIKE'S IN FINE SHAPE THOUGH.

You're right my friend. Wear one regardless. Doesn't take much to crack the old egg open, ya know. Glad to hear that you and your bike are ok. I always wear mine, even if I'm going a couple of blocks up to the C-Store cuz you never know what might happen......

The way the Marlins manhandled the Yanks last night, i think if the Cubs would have won, they would hav had a decent chance...

But

That's o.k.

I don't think I'd say manhandled them. Maybe in the first inning but that's about it. Certainly the show was on the other foot in the 9th when the Yanks came back to tie it up. And Gonzales's shot was lucky. The only spot on that side of the park you could hit a liner out like that...

Yeah, no helmet is like no condom... just not safe. And why is it that we're looked down upon by "everyone" else (other traffic), when it's the Harley guys that don't wear helmets and aren't safe. I mean, hey if we want to do 140 on the highway, I doubt anyone is going to get hurt except us, so dang... what are they complaining about?

OK, so being in the UK I have always and will always wear a lid, but I really dont understand why you wouldn't wear one? Surely you would get bugs and shit on your teeth and in your eyes and the wind noise would be huge???? Anyone ridden at speed without a lid???

Yep, I've had rocks thrown from cars hit my helmet and I was just cruising around the city. I don't go helmetless because of that.

yeah, I know, this thread is OLD but someone else brought it to the top, so I just thought I'd add to it.

:poke Well to keep it on topic anyway. My state has no law. I do not think any place should force you to wear one. Same with seatbelts. Now I do waer one 99% of the time. As for why people ride without one. Just something you have to feel for yourself. It is a different feeling. Let the tards crack their heads open. Natural selection. And we need more bleach in the genepool!

well down in texas if your under 21 you gotta wear a lid... or have 10 grand in life insurance taken out and in your posession.. all passengers must wear a lip at all times.. or its like a felony charge....

but the state is bike and our bikes are fast... so 99% of the time we just run if we dont have a passenger but i always wear my ****ing lid why pay 450 for the shoei duammel replica and not show that bitch off... and the girls like their icon white and silver i have for them.... SAFTY SHOULD BE FUN

I agree with bassintruck... I don't think people should be mandated by law to wear any safety gear. If somebody wants to take that risk with their own melon, let them. you don't have to ride with them, or even associate with them... I personally, am rather fond of my brains, and I'm gonna do all I can to keep them in my head, but if somebody doesn't want to, that's their own bad.

The helmet law doesnt bother me one bit. I dont want to be riding or driving down the streets and see some biker with his head splashed across the pavement cause the jackass didnt think he needed a helmet. Motorcycles already are known for being unsafe as it is, and not wearing one only makes them that much worse. besides going as fast as we do, who wants to hit the pavement with their forhead? :screwy

I agree completely

not me... but If somebody does, that's their own business... not the governments. I really don't think we should be protected from ourselves... Listen to NOFX - The Idiots are Taking over...
"Darwin's rolling over in his coffin, the fittest are surviving much less often"
idiots do stupid things, and take out those of US that are being safe with them, I'd rather they off themselves before they get the chance to take me with them.
Sorry for the Politically Incorrect view, but that's my opinion

Not taking advice from a punk rock group, but more along the lines of agreeing with their lyrics... "You might not think it matters now, but what if you were wrong? you might not think there's any wisdom in a ****ed up punk rock song... but the way it is, cannot persist for long, a brutal sun is rising on a sick horizon." -bad religion
And bad publiity is not from people just not wearing gear, it's from people stunting on public roads, doing stupid things and filming them... Cruisers don't have as bad a rep as sportbikes, and most of them don't wear helmets if they don't have to...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't want the gov telling me how to live my life like I don't have enough common sense to figure it out on my own! BTW the only time I have ever been on my bike without full gear is when I am moving it in the driveway.

+1 for natural selection! :hammer

Once again... if you had bothered to read my next post... I don't LET these people make decisions for me... I make my own decisions, and when I hear songs that put the way I feel into simple, quick, to the point words, I like to use those quotes to express MY feelings... The helmet laws make no mind to me, cause I wear them anyway, I just don't like big brother telling me I HAVE to wear them.
Oh, and by the way, I'm awfully glad you let the government make your decisions for you, and avoid making those decisions yourself... that way you can go through life not taking responsibility for anything you do... great idea. :jerkit

I'll have to look in to it, but 99% of the riders here in Illinois do not wear helmets, and their gf's in the back are in skimpy little outfits. They wont look that good after a fall when the bf swerves in and out of traffic trying to play Vanilla Ice in Cool As Ice(anyone remember that movie!?)

I think it should be mandatory.
