Rim tape you mean?

And your post doesn't make sense. U make a thread called "What do you guys think??"... u post a pic of an 09 R6s wich i dont even think is even out yet...(maybe im wrong but still) U talk about Red rim tape an Red around the lights... than u ask "should i paint mine gold or not???" We don't even know what bike u have first off. Im so lost on what it is this thread is going for lol

Lol I'm sorry I didn't word it right ... First off that is my bike and yes it is a 2009... I'm asking if I should color match the rings around the headlights to the gold on the rest of my bike or would it look dumb or unnoticeble? Sorry about the lack of wording :)

youve got several things more important that need to be done than that.

1) frame sliders (or better)
2) fender eliminator
3) flush mounts
4) remove the reflectors from the front forks
5) slip on but thats a little more expensive (the stock exhaust on those is both ugly and quiet...i couldnt even hear my exhaust over the motor)

after those then start making little tweaks.

ionno wut ur talking about with rings anyways, can u post a pic?

by rings around the headlights, do you mean the silver retainers that hug up against the projector bulbs themselves, or halo lights?

Along with the mods mentioned above ^, a dark smoke DB wind screen would set the bike off nicely!! :toocool:

Agreed and that is the first thing to be done to my bike!

And yes ! the rings around the headlights!... not halo's even though they look badass! im tryin to find the pic...

well if you decided that you indeed wanted to paint them, keep in mind the rather high temperatures they may endure over the years.
im not very educated in the process of anodizing, but I'm sure that would stand up to the heat right?... not to mention look sick!

if your down with the look, then go for it.
id be interested to see those rings black, on a raven.

sometimes contrast is good though.

ya im curious to see what they would look like gold because everything behind the headlights is black so it would contrast the gold nicely... i think.. whata you think?

*update* i took off the reflectors on my forks just now! looks so much better

i imagine.... (since i painted my headlights on my subie) you just pull the covers off with the oven method and unscrew the screws and use plasti color spraypaint.... the hard part is finding the plasti color gold

ya i did it with my car headlights and it sounds very similar! i just dont know if the rings are metal or plastic....

rt36

im pretty sure they're metallic. if i remember correctly, they have a pitted texture like some metals.

The only thing id be afraid of is sealing it back up. I'd hate to have moisture accumulate all up in the housings.

Did you actually see that bike in person, or come across it on the internet?
Try to track down the owner and ask if its worth it.

If you want gold I would use Duplicolor's universal gold engine enamel. That is what I used on my subie's wheels and the gold is perfect. I have had people ask me if my wheel came like that stock.

It could look pretty sick, sometimes something subtle like painting them a medium grey can look cool too, one of those things were it looks different, but you can't put your finger on it unless the owner tells you what they did.

I had the same idea for my projector mod. Did mine in yellow to match my yellow HID. Its not hard to do at all. Just need to open the headlight and unscrew the 4 metal rings. Takes a few coats of paint though, I used yellow duplicolor high heat engine enamel.

Thanks. I don't have them mounted yet, I am still waiting for my HID kit to arrive before I mount them. Plus I broke one of the angel eyes and had to order a replacement. Hope to have mounted in a few days though.
