I changed my grips to some aftermarket ones. Now the throttle side sticks. It only sticks when i tighten the bar end completely. Has anyone else run into this problem when changing their grips? I even tried putting a coating of oil on the bar end in hopes it would make it slick enough to snap back. I've adapted to riding with this new style of "cruise control" lol but i know it's not all that safe. any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like you didnt push the grip on all the way. If you can get it off, take it off scrape all the glue off the throttle and the grip, put new glue on it and push it on "ALL THE WAY"
Hope this helps

Jasamb is right. Sounds like the grip is not all the way up. Or the grip is too long and needs to be trimmed. My grips were way to long when i first got them. Could alos put a little grease on the inside of the doughnut so it doesn't stick to the engine kill switch.
I trimed my right grip down about a 1/4 inch. Looks kinda bad, but better than the throttle sticking at the wrong moment!

Cool thanks for the insight guys. The grip is on all the way. it only happens when the bar end is tightened all the way so I may try lubing the side by the kill switch.

When the bar end is screwed on all the way, does it rub on the grip?
**There should be a very small gap between the grip and the bar end.**

Yea if the two are rubbing against each other, that may be causing the throttle to stick.
If this is the case, you may have to take the bar end off and trim the grip back a little. Just zip it off with a Dremmel tool.
SIDE NOTE: I just got a Dremmel tool for Christmas. It is one of the more useful tools for working on a bike.

a dremel tool is great for all uses!! My buddy just put a turbo kit on his honda, and he said it was the tool he used the most throughout the process. Im glad I one!! :jump

The lost son has returned! Good to see you again Deej!
As for the grips, this is about ridin. Trim it so it don't stick even if it don't look "show" quality like DJ and Jasamb said.

to trim the grip end a little.. I had the same problem with my pro grips. Sliced a little of the grip off where it meets the bar end and presto!
:cheers

When you trim the grips, why does that help?? What makes it stick that it has to be trimmed??

well the rubber of the grip pushes against the bar end and has enough grip on it to keep it from popin back to normal position. :cheers

hey buddy, i feel your pain. i superglued my throttle as well. but my remedy was to take 600 grit sand paper to resurface the inside of the plastic sheath and the bar itself. no sticking what so ever with mine.
good luck........later
