Unplugging the rear turn signals on an '04 R6?

Just bought a fender eliminator a few days ago for my 2004 r6. The installation instructions say that I can unplug the rear turn signals and pull the wires out of the stock plastic fender. I took apart everything in the fender and rear turn signals, but it doesn't look I can just "unplug" the lights.

Do you have to cut the wires to remove the rear turn signals? I don't really want to have to do this, but if it's the only way, then I will. I just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing something.

the plugs are in the tail section of your bike. so yourgonna have to take more parts off to get to em or just cut em. its up to you.

what parts do i have to take off?

well to make it easy on yourself, both seats, the undertail, and the upper tail fairing. once all thats off it will be easier to work on and reposition your wires for puttin it back together. :cheers

seems like a lot of work. do you know where I can get books/websites that'll show me how to take all that stuff apart. I'm not mechanically inclined.

im gonna be doing the same thing this weekend. im sure its not that hard, i haven't looked at it yet but its probably just some screws and the pieces come off. ill post up some pics and a DIY guide.

yeah, this is a pretty easy modification. I installed a hotbodies undertail on my 04. Remove the seat, fender, undertail, passenger seat, and the rest of the tail to have access to the plugs. I had to cut and solder mine. I cut mine between the plug and the fender, and soldered new wires to the plug. This way you can quick disconnect if you need to tear apart your bike again.

Also there are two bolts that hold the stock fender, I had to leave these out with the new undertail.

Took me about 1 hr to install, thats including beer breaks. :cheers

There doesn't seem anywhere on the turn signal itself that you can unplug, and it seems like a pain in the ass to remove both seats and part of the bodywork to unplug the lights.

the tail and the undertail are held together with plastic pop rivets. get a nail set or something like that and push up in the center of them and they'll pop and then pull them out. rider seat comes out with two allen bolts. then you can get everything out of the way to work on the wiring. its really simple. sounds like alot but it takes about 10 minutes to get all the plastics off.

You have to take off the rider seat in order to take off the tail piece. Just opens everything up more and only takes a couple minutes.
