I just bought my first bike. A new Silver/Black R6. I need a new helmet, but I don't know what to get. Why are Arai and Shoei helmets so expensive compared to HJC? What are the advantages of getting a higher priced helmet? Any models that you can suggest. I was looking at the 2004 Shoei RF 1000 Storm.
Thanks.

arai and shoei helmets are lighter in weight than the HCJ. I have an HJC CL-14 all black to go with my 2004 silver r6... its up to you man. I like my HJC.

make sure they are certified.....snell, DOT, ANSI or whatever. cram as many on there as you can. And then get the one that fits best b/c its no fun riding with an ill fitting bucket. Then choose the graphics out of those that fit that criteria and price range.
I think thats how I choose mine but I can't remember. I'm so confused.

oops, forgot to add that its an HJC AC-11 Zeek and I like it alot. A little noisy with the vents open but its nice and cool with them open. Removable liiner for washing.

well i have an AGV XR-2 rossi gp500 helmet and absolutly love it. but i would go with what pen says. try some on and find one or two that fit well. and also by well i mean quite snug. it really should not move around on your head if you shake it side to side. it will seem to be to tight but you will get used to it. also i found a great place to get helmets so here it is

From what I have heard/read, if you fit suitably in an Arai helmet,
the fitting in these won't be a problem. The price range are close to
Arai & Shoei's range. But they look wicked though and reminds me
some of those Japanese Anime.
Maybe my next helmet

If you are buying it online, make sure that you can return/exchange it if it does not fit right. I spent more then a hour at the dealer trying on helmets. Settle for nothing less then the best fit, because its your head that's going to be in it!

I have an RF-1000 and I like it a lot. If you do plan on going with this helmet then check out http://www.motoxoutlet.com I got my new one a couple weeks ago from this place for over $100 cheaper than I could find it anywhere else.

Hey bkchun99, congrats on your new bike, i too just bought a brand new bike (2004 r6 & loving every rip on the throttle). if you're going to be on motoxoutlet, check out the KBC helmets. I have an HJC and the fit is good. My buddy bought the KBC VR-1 from the site and he loves it. It looks bad-ass, and it fits me comfortably when i tried it on. I heard the racer-1's are a good helmet too. I also have a friend with an AGV rossi replica and loves it.
