I have the same dihlema.... She's almost verticle on the kickstand. The cheapest that I've found the fully adjustable ones are about $160. I'd prefer not to spend that much so I'm trying to find a place that'll cut about a inch off my stand and weld it back together. Does anyone know of anywhere that does welding in San Jose area???

Call a local body shop. The welding will only take a minute. If you have a dremel tool you can cut it your self and then take the stand to the shop. It is so quick that I couldn't see them charging very much. If they don't do it they will probably know a place that you can go.

going down three inches is quite a big drop. measure the clearence now and then take off three. wont be much. and alot of speed bumps out there are pretty dam tall. not to mention all those potholes :cheers

Damn, 3 inches? Does that mess with the handling of the bike? I'm one of the shortest riders out there, but I didn't mess with my bike's height. I'm used to it now, so the height really doesn't bother me -- I can straddle walk her and do everything else without any problems. Does the lowered bike make that much of a difference?

What did you use to lower the bike? Dogbone (adjustable)? And did you lower the front at all? It looks good but does it ride good?

lowering your suspension doese indeed screw around with the handling. i wouldnt do it personally, the yamaha engineers know their stuff and made the suspension a certain height for good reasons.

The 2nd picture is the lowering bracket, it has 2 holes, the hole I have it in now lowers it three inches, the other hole is 1 1/2" drop. It took me like 10-15 minutes to do it. I used two hockey sticks and two speakers to get the ass end up seeing that I don't have a bike stand yet, lol. I guess thats it, any more ?? just let me know. later :cheers

Not to seem like a punk but I dont think she knows what she is talking about. By the look of her tires, it looks like she hasn't even push the bike that hard in the turns. I can still see the nubs on the tire, that means she hasn't even reached anywhere near full lean. So the question still remain...Is the handling affected by lowering it 3 inches? Ask someone else.

I've lowered my 04 R6 1.5 inches both front and back. If you do not lower both you will screw with the handling bad. I have never bottomed out because of careful riding but it still would be a posibility. I also cut 1 inch off the kickstand and had a trusted welder put it back. It will hold up if done properly. As you guys know u can sit and chill on your bike with the kickstand down so make sure u weld it back together correctly. I would post pics but don't know how. BTW i used a dogbone to lower my bike.

Is that low enough for you? Adjustable lowering link in the rear and strapped in the front. It is a daily driver and a 1/4 mile track bike so..

For the forks, Traxxion Dynamics will do the work for under $300 if they use your stock internals and they will shorten the tubes for you. I have their email but its a cross post on another forum I am a member of so I don't want to do that, its a no-no.

I just dropped the front end last night, it was easy and took like 30 minutes and a little muscle. I'll post pics tomorrow.

3" holy crap.

I dropped mine 7mm in just the front and I have bottomed out a couple of times.

You need to stiffen up your compression dampening then.

wonder if the bike would bottom out pretty bad after lowering it while coming down off a endo? would some 1 be willing 2 make a post of step by step process with pics of how 2 lower the front?

Dunno, his bike sits about 2 inches lower than mine and my rear end isn't dropped. My front end is lowered some and I had my seat completely redone by the upholstery shop and I went from standing on the bare ends of my toes to being firmly planted on the ball of my feet on both sides. It looks like there will be no lowering the rear for me. :)

if you dont lower the front and rear evenly the handling will be way off yamaha made it the way it is for reason
