is it d.o.t. legal in california? my cousin got a fix it ticket for his flush mounts on his 600rr and i don't want to be stuck with the same thing. so i was wondering if this is legal in california. on the same note, will the pivot kit cause any problems? the same cousin got a fix it ticket for his fender eliminator, said it wasn't clearly visible, and was mounted too far back. or something like that. and finally, if i were to order the pivot kit for my '04 r6, do i order the '03 or the universal? i'm a noob so i don't know much about the previous generations of the 6 :worship

i'm living in california right now, and most of the people I see have flush mounts in the back. cops don't seem to pull them over, but i'm not sure of the law. go to www.ducatigirl.com and check up on california law for details. the pivot kit is alright. just don't get a fender eliminator that's way the hell in the back (almost in the middle of the bike right over the rear tire). one thing with the pivot kit is that if you want to re-use the stock rear turn signals, they will NOT fit the pivot kit's holes. trust me, i know... if you order the pivot kit, the 03 will fit the 04. slightly different instructions. i included a how to in the how to section for the pivot kit. but it'll fit.

shit, i don't know. I think aftermarket turn signals will fit into the holes, but I never tried them. The only thing with aftermarket turn signals is that you'll have to splice them into the connecting wires -- some guys on the forum said it was easy, but I didn't want to risk it, so I just stuck with the stock turn signals (the stock ones have a gray connector that’s just plug/unplug). If you get the pivot kit and want to re-use normal turn signals, you'll have to get the side brackets too. The brackets cost about 30 bucks. When I assembled the pivot kit and removed the stock turn signals (this is a pain in the ass, so let me know if you want instructions on this), I tried to slip the screw from the turn signals into the hole in the side bracket of the pivot kit. The thing wouldn’t fit, so I forced it in there. The only problem with that was that I bent the damn side brackets. At any rate, I assembled the whole damn thing and screwed it on the bike and went for a ride. When I came back the turn signals and license plate were facing down. Turns out the stock turn signals are kinda heavy for the pivot kit. The pivot kit was also still a little loose, so I tried tightening it a little bit more. But when I did this, I broke part of the pivot kit too -- I guess you’ll have to be a little more gentle with assembling it than me. The whole pivot kit was just broke, so I went out and got myself one of those regular steel fender eliminators. That sucker was so much easier to install and sturdier. So now that’s what I’ve been using. I’m not knocking the VFX pivot kit, but I think it would have worked 10 times better if I used aftermarket turn signals like something from lockhart phillips. So now I’m riding around with the steel fender eliminator, and I have no complaints. It didn’t have a license plate light on it, so I just ripped the LED lights off the VFX pivot kit and put them on my new fender eliminator. I’m just a gorilla when it comes to assembling/fixing things.
