I cant remember the fluid that I used, It was what the local bike sopt recomended.

I bought my self an easy bleed kit which consisted of a long tube with a clip on one end, with a one-way valve on the other that goes into a plastic bottle.

Firstly cover up any paint work before you start as the brake fluid will kill yur paint work if you spill it.

remove slowly undo the bleed nipple on the calliper, but not so much that it starts pissing out all over the wheel, the fit the tube over the nipple amd secure. now remove the resovior cap. Go back and undo the nipple a little more so the fluid flows into the tube.

Pump on the brake leaver to push the old fluid out, at the same time, keep topping up the level in the resovior. If the level get too low, you will get air in the line and your brakes will be kak.

Keep doing this untill you see clean fluid floing into the bottle. tighten up the nipple and make sure the correct level of fluid is in the resovior.

When doing the fronts, I do one at a time as describes above. I will usally go through one small bottle of fluid to make sure that there is no old fluid or air in the line.

Take the bike out and carefull test the brakes, If they feel spongy, the repeat the above steps to remove any trapped air.

Hope this helps.

I would recommend DOT4, or whtever your manual says. If you decide to use DOT5, you are going to have to take the master cylinder, the lines, and the calipers apart, and clean the crap out of them with acetone before putting the DOT5 in them. (that's the correct way to do it anyway)
DOT4, and DOT5 do not mix. DOT5 has a cool purple/ blue look to it, but you can't just bleed the old fluid out, and put in the new. I guess you can, but these are your brakes we are talkin' about here.
Bleeding the lines doesn't remove all of the old fluid.

If your bike says to use DOT 4, use DOT 4. The rubber washers and tubes used in the brake system may not be compatable with the DOT 5, causeing them to break down.
