Canyon Dancer Bar Harness

Hey all. I picked up a Canyon Daner bar harness last week since I needed to truck the bike 250 miles to D.C. It worked alright, but I noticed that it was difficult to get the bike cinched down so that the bars didn't turn in transit. I guess it could be my tiny little truck having the tie-downs at too steep of an angle, but I had to stop and check on the highway because I could see the handlebars turning as I drove I had the front wheel against the back of the cab (no chock), and the forks compressed about halfway. anybody else noticed this happening with the CanyonDancer?

were the tie downs mounted in the corners? If possible, I try to get the front wheel as much in the groove in the bed as possible then cinch it pretty far down (a little passed half way). Did you tie down the back of it too?

i stopped using those things. It torqued the clip on to my FZR to the point of no return (it was not one that was supposed to move). Maybe i tied it down to tight, maybe those things just suck. i just tie it down to the lower triple clamp now, no problems...

damn yo, did you pull it to the bottom of the suspension? I cant picture how you tied it to the lower clamp, but it definitely would help keep the bike from turning.

i bought this a couple of months ago, but never had the chance to use it yet. from everyones reply it seems to be a good idea to have.

Did you tie down the back of it too? yes and yes. The bar harness was tied down to the front corners with ratchet straps and I ran a 14' ratchet strap through the frame at the passenger peg brackets and tied those off the the front corner as well. I've used a similar setup with my GS500 and not had this issue. I'm thinking it might be because my truck is so darned small that I'm not getting an effective angle from the bars down and forward... ?

never used one, soft tie downs work just fine for me so why buy extra stuff :cheers

Just used one this weekend to go from Sacramento to AZ and had no problems. Will be using again in a week to go from AZ to Memphis and then back again. The groove in the bed helps. As far as the angle goes, you may try getting the blocks that mount into the top of your bed rail/sides. They have an eyelet on them to hook onto. The only concern would be how much of a load those units could take.

I've got 2 of those, had 2 bikes till' recently. I just used one to haul my 03 R6 from VA Beach to San Antonio. Worked freakin' great. Got an extra if anyone's interested. It's practically brand new. :cheers
