Anyone know of an effective airbox mod for the 03 R6?
I overheard someone talking about one, but I can't find any info anywhere.

I know they make aftermarket airboxes for the R1 but I have yet to see one for an R6. maybe Graves has them since they make them for the 1 or the other popular airbox for the R1 is by BoxR. so you might check both of those to see if they have anything.

nothing i'm aware of. I don't know that where or how you'd benefit from doing any kind of mod to it. I know going with a different filter is one thing that can help. You can also block off the AIS and remove/plug the plumbing for that.

hey redline what is the ais plug and what does it do?

its the air injection system. it feeds oxygen into the exhaust stream to help burn any left over gas which is what creates that popping noise when getting off the gas at high rpm's.

As far as I'm aware of, blocking it off won't give you any performance gain or loss. Just more or less a stupid emission thing that adds weight and makes annoying backfiring that is totally uncalled for. And it is just more shit to undo while removing the airbox and or getting at coils/plugs etc...
