Hi riders,
I'm from Singapore. Got my 99 model R6 last week. Its a Gauloises blue design but I'm totally not a Rossi wannabe. After 4 bikes of Honda, this is my 1st Yamaha so I fell quite restless on my new discovery.
Currently, I need to trottle more in order to get the machine going if not it just dies off. I have to trottle to about rpm 3 to get smooth pick up. Even then, after trottling to rpm 4 then I can feel the smoothness. In other words, I cant ride it slow, I'll either knock or jerking. Any advise on this?
Does Yamaha bikes have a slightly rough engine? Mine after its hot, I can hear some mixed knocking and tappet sound from the top of the engine on idling. It'll disappear if I give it more throttle. It does'nt when its start from cool.
One of my friends quote me the following:
'The flat spot between 3000rpm and 4500rpm is well documented for the 99-00 R6. Running stock settings in the problem is less defined, once the bike has been fitted with a jet kit, the problem is accentuated. I experienced the same problem when i had my R6 jetted oso. It is only a bother when u try to accelerate from 3000rpm to 4500rpm but should be fine when u are accelarating from below the flat spot. I have seeked a lot of help to try to solve the problem but no amount of adjusting by singapore shops seem to eliminate the problem. Mechanics in Singapore do not have the expertise in solving the problem'.
Any seniors could help to resolve?
:cheers
