I was wondering how racing slicks would do on the street?
I was thinking about ordering a set for the street.
I just think they would look pretty cool.

Just wondering if anybody has done this?

of your crash! slicks dont heat up enough on the street to be of any use

idk that i would recommend it for a bunch of reasons:
1. what if you get caught in the rain...
2. its illegal
3. be careful about the compound you get if you do get them, because some slicks are only meant to really work at race temperatures so if you throw them into a corner when they aren't warm you could be in trouble
4. this might not be a huge issue but idk if the rubber is really meant to deal with potholes, rocks, bumps... idk maybe thats just me being paranoid

but on the other hand, it might be kind of bad @$$

Will never get up to temp, just get a good hypersport tire.

ambient temp. doesnt mean a whole lot, the tire (inside) temp is what matters. Under hard acceleration the rear tire heats up / under hard braking the front tire heats up. You want the inside of the tire to heat up. (if that makes sense, i'm proly not explainin it right)

Dont mean to come off beligerant or anything, just wanted you to have some facts b4 making a decision. I've known guys to run slicks on the street, but they were seriously riding.

buying tires that look cool is probably not the best thing to do. you want the best tire for how you are riding. there is no need to put slicks on your bike when you arent on the track.

Why would you buy these?? If you want slick spend some cash and get good ones! But I wouldnt ride with them on the street, There is no life to a slick you would buy new tires every month

mine are pirelli diablos... are those good enough? :poke they actually have more life than the supercorsas considering they're the same exact tire but without the cuts

i agree it would look cool, but it wont look cool when you lean and go down because you cannot heat up those slicks on the street properly

My friend is running a slick on the back of his R6 right now. It gets plenty hot. balls of rubber, etc.. Same kid along with 2 other friends put power ones on their bikes this season, and those tires got stickier than anyone elses.. No tire warmers involved whatsoever.

I don't see why people keep saying you can't get tires up to temp unless you have warmers. It's just bullshit. Especially when these same people are talking about DOT tires..

I won't ride his bike with the slick solely for the reason it isn't DOT.. There is no puncture rating, etc. DOT tires are DOT for several reasons, puncture testing is just one of many..

Yea yea, thread resurrection, I know.. I'm just a little sick of all the duplicate threads.
