: 520 Conversion ?

I have a 2009 R6 and I am looking to do the "520 Conversion."

From what I read it looks like -1 in the front and +2 in the rear with a 520 chain is the best way to go. Can someone point me in the right direction as to where to order this, what brand, and what exactly I need to order?

Thank you.

you could go to motomummy.com (site sponsor) and Corey will take care of you (gsxcorey on the boards)..

-1/+2 is the tooth count for the sprockets, but that's up to you what you want... personally I did just a -1 in the front (stock count in rear) and it had PLENTY of gitup, without losing too much end. There are endless threads on this though...

Basically what you'll need is a chain, front and rear sprocket. Also some tools to put the stuff on once you get it..

Edit: be advised, changing the sprocket count on the bike will make the speedometer inaccurate to a significant degree... I recommend planning out the budget to accommodate a Speedo Healer as well.

EDIT AGAIN: by 'significant' I mean this: -1/+2 is roughly 14.5% and -1 is 11.25% which is pretty significant... 55 mph READS like about 62-65..

motomummy...just get a full chain kit

I've got sprocket specialist front and rear sprockets and an RK chain. The chain has been perfect but if i was going to do it over i'd get the same sprockets (sprocket specialist) and an EK chain...

Ok I ordered the kit!

Sprocket Specialist Superlight kit at -1/+2 (15/47) with a EK MVXZ Gold Chain.

I was quoted at $120 for the install from a local shop. Does that sound correct?

go look up the service manual for your bike and just do it yourself if your some what mechanically inclined. I would never pay 120 for a sprocket change...

it's very easy to install a chain kit and if you do get stuck just take pics and post them up and ask questions. so many have done it on here that people can talk you through it. also it's a very rewarding feeling to learn about the bike, do it yourself, and not to mention nice to save money.

I was actually recommended the Driven kit over the Sprocket Specialist kit so I went with that. Black sprockets with a gold EK chain.

No mods really. Jardine slip on, GPR V4 steering stabilizer, Soupy's lowering links, and a bunch of appearance mods.
