Hi there,

Found this place at the top of my google searches list, so thought I'd join up.
Got my 5EB roughly 2 months ago from a friend, its a 1999 model, covered 20,000 miles when I got it. My first bike at 20, although I did my test well over 2 years back. More of a car person to be honest, but i'm coming around to 2 wheel fun....

This is how it looked:

First up was 2 new tyres, and a new battery.

It had a full custom respray 2 years ago just before my friend bought it, into the gloss black, white stickers, polished wheels etc. Looks pretty smart, but being known locally it will be changing.

Anyways, bought a few new bits and bobs for it, mainly carbon fibre! Getting ready for the rebuild over the winter.

Got hold of a rear seat cowl and sprayed it myself, bad picture but can kind of see it...

Then decided it needed a good service, so bought myself:

Oil + Filter
Spark plugs
Sprockets
Chain
Fuel filter
K&N cleaner and reoiler for the air filter

Just as it was all delivered the bike started running really badly, no power below 6krpm, cutting out etc. So as of a few days ago the bike looked like this:

Stripped everything off, changed it all over, running a treat now :D
Needs the carbs setting up and possible re-jetting, but that will come a bit later.

In the winter it will be fully resprayed, white panels, black frame, lots of carbon. Along with more maintenance, new bearings etc, plenty to keep me busy.

Long intro.....but look forward to finding some decent info on here :)

Thanks for the welcome.

Inverted forks from which model?
Are they a straight bolt on swap or is more work involved?

Also, is the black/blue R6 in your sig yours?! If it is i've got a fair few pics of it on my computer, was even my desktop for a while!

im not sure what kinda modification need to be made to make the inverted forks work, but i have seen it done. i believe there is a forum member who has pictures of his bike floating around on here same year as your with inverted forks.

Might look into it, thanks.
Got a long winter over here, so will be off the road for 6/7 months (i'm a fair weather rider only!) so will be doing plenty of bits to it to get it immaculate, i guess doing that will fill some more time!

Was going to go for a similar colour scheme to yours after i saw the pics of it, but not blue, but then changed my mind to white after seeing a few of those on the net, should compliment the carbon nicely. Very good work on it though, looks amazing.

Bike is now sorted and back on the road, running perfectly, better than ever!
Power is a lot smoother, and seems a lot more responsive, putting that down to the air and fuel filter.
