: First *intentional* wheelie
I did my first wheelie on purpose today. I only got it up about 2 1/2 feet but it was pretty cool. I forgot to cover the rear brake but I had no need for it this time. It came up much smoother than I expected after all the failed attempts which seemed more violent than the wheel leaving the ground. there was no mouse trap effect like a hear about sometimes, I guess cause I rolled of the throttle instead of letting it snap back. I'll keep practicing here and there. :toocool:

Yea you get better throttle control with no gloves....:lmao
Man that kid is a moron. Not you the poster, but the dumbass Yut-ugh kid Joey/joey stunts/Sativa7J.
Now are you sure you even got it up that high? Lots of people think the bike comes up that high when they first try and really it's like 6-8". Just asking if someone else was there to verify you actually got it up that high.

I think the 2 1/2 feet is an exaggeration, because other wise thats a pretty big first time wheelie that would scare the s out of you. I remember when i thought i was a wheelie bad ass. then i saw myself on film:(

haha so true. i was on a dirtbike and thought it was getting up 2-3 but in reality it was about a foot. but i'm working on them
it may have been , it sure felt like 2 feet, i got it up again today but not as high and a couple other VERY small ones.

Yea get you a camera out there and see. I know when I first started less than 1' felt like 2-3. Really feels like it with the clipons stock and doing sitdowns. Standups don't feel as crazy and if you turn your clipons out it feels more natural like a dirt bike or bicycle riding wheelies.
Question: I've been attempting all mine in 1st gear, I've been thinking and I know there is a lot of torque in that gear, would it be easier/"safer" trying to do them in 2nd gear and if so can I get a few second gear pointers?
Thanks
Moshbmx1 09-02-2009, 08:48 AM I much prefer 2nd gear over 1st gear. I feel that it is much more comfortable to control in 2nd. Their are are a few threads on 2nd gear wheelies in here. I roll up to around 40-45 (or lower just have to use more clutch), then clutch it maybe use a little bounce with a twist of the throttle and up it comes. Like many others have said, make sure to yuuuught uggghhh too.

when i was doing wheelies i clutched up 1st and but bounced 2nd and 3rd.
2nd - get your speed around 40-50 and bounce with your legs as you get on the throttle. It should come up pretty smooth, but watch out because 2nd is kind of touchy.
3rd - ride around 70-80 (10k rpm) and bounce with your legs as you crack the throttle open. It should come up nice and smooth to the balance point. Try and hold a constant throttle. Once you get good, you should be able to keep it around 85 the entire time and ride it out for a while.
keep that rear brake covered at all times
Thanks for the info.
That should take me a long while because just thinking about the front end coming up passed 20mph gives me the chills. Once I get used to the front end up at all I may try going faster.
