mercenary's - 2009 track build

With the winter approaching I guess I'll hop on the trend of making a build thread. In March I bought my first sportbike, a 2010, off the showroom floor rode it all summer hoping one day I'd be able to get out to a track. About two months ago I was able to pick up a cosmetic damaged 2009 for the wife to eventually ride some and to be a dedicated track bike for me. Next season I plan on entering the MCRA series at both Putnam and Heartland Park.

Over the winter I want to get plastics for it, tire warmers, a front stand, brake overhaul, and I guess I should look into a damper. I've kinda been looking at the kevlar covers to protect the tank too.

Any suggestions or opinions of what/where to buy are more than welcome as this will be my first track build and my limited track experience.

Pulled the forks today and found that the previous owner had paired a 06-07 fork with an 08+. Going to get the refresh done in 2 weeks and will be trading out the shorter 06-07 for a second 08+ This should help the problem I've had with the binding of the front end since both forks were being ran flush with the triple even though they're different lengths.

If you know anyone who will need a 06-07 left side fork let me know, I'll have one for sale shortly.

Gotta find a way to support the ass so I can pull the shock, my jack stands are to short to hold it up by the rear sets

Use the BAUCE hoist... a-frame ladder, 2x4 and ratchet straps.

Edit: here's my version of the BAUCE hoist...lol

Suspension refreshed, found out whoever installed the carts put them in wrong and bent/broke a spacer making it look like a 06-07 fork. Replacement spacer on order. Shock put back in and single fork reinstalled.

Good news is I have 4 straight forks that are all the same length.

Prob Anthony @ BAUCE Racing for that BMC... What suit and boots are you looking To get there Jon?

#142 ·
Torn on the suit between a custom Pilot suit since they offer contingency in CCS or another A* GP Pro. If the fit is right I'm gonna pick up some Sidi Vortices. If not then I'll probably get another set of Vertigos. Didn't realize Anthony was a BMC dealer....

Yeah he was doin deals for those BMC filter with his oil change kits or something... Ask him. It seems The choice on suits is relatively clear... At least To me... Of course, what's The contingency worth? If it's a descent chunk, I'd bite... But thats just me... I'm going To pick up some Sidi's here soon as well... Trying To decide which one's...

:cheers

Just texted me back, he's got one on order for me.

The contingency is 250-200-150 iirc....but those are vouchers towards the next purchase, which doesn't help with the initial cost:jacked but would be BA to have a nice custom suit that fits exactly right and is whatever I want it to be.

Nice!

Got word today my boots can be fixed for $40 plus the cost of a new sole. Anyone know of places with free shipping on SIDI soles?
No idea! Can't wait to get myself a set of Sidi's! So once you find out, I'll prob be hitting you up down the road for where to get replacements!

:cheers

Ran out of daylight today but got the oil changed and some Engine Ice in the bike. Flash Tune is ordered, PCIII is for sale. Time to start the maze of safety wire this bike is going to have to have. Have to come up with clever ideas for safety clips for quick(er) tire changes.

I'll be running CCS Supersport and Superbike with aluminum and magnesium wheels respectively so I need a safety clip setup that will let me change relatively quickly just in case my bike gets protested and has me sitting at tech until my next race.

Just needs paint tires and gas.

It's official, I love Pit-Bull....

Putting stabilizer mount back together after removing the tank and stripped a piece on the bracket. Called them and they're replacing it free saying it had a lifetime warranty and it's not designed to strip out.
