First impressions: BAUCE Racing ECU flash

Well, I pulled the trigger after doing some reading and gathering information. I was a little nervous about doing the whole "ECU flash" thing but after hearing so many positive reviews and feed back from many members, I went ahead and shipped out my ECU.

From my understanding the following things are changed/removed:
-engine braking is reduced
-engine idle is raised
-radiator fans are set to come on at a lower temp
-fuel map is smoothed which leads to a butter smooth throttle
-EXUP CEL removed
- and some other OE restrictions

I've only had this thing on my bike for a day and I've only been able to "feel" the changes regarding to engine braking and the raised idle.

The reduced engine braking is tits. Coming to a stop or going into a corner and dropping gears before entering and still caring speed without the bike "braking" is just awesome. Makes everything sooooo much smoother.

I was worried about the raised idle regarding street riding and the bike heating up quicker at stop lights but I've found that with the lowered set temperature for the fans... The bike never hit more than 207F with ambient temps being around 80-85. It's a bit annoying to hear the bike idle at 2k at stop lights but well worth it. Now you simply release the clutch and the bike goes.....no more applying throttle lol.

As regards to the smoother throttle.... Milky tity smooth!!!!! I literally was able to ride with one hand in first gear and increase/decrease throttle without any twitchy-ness. With an OE ECU, this is impossible, all of you know how twitchy the throttle is in first gear.. The flash literally got rid of that issue.

I was able to ride home through the back roads and open her up a bit... AMAZING! She pulls hard through every gear and seems like she picks up power quick once you hit about 8k RPMs instead of 10k. I didn't open her up all the way as I was riding on public roads but I can't wait to hit the track in April with the new beast!

Overall I'm extremely happy with this upgrade. It's an easy upgrade at a great price. Most people gave me siht about doing this upgrade saying that it won't make me faster and blah blah blah.... An ECU Flash is not just a go fast upgrade.. It helps iron out rough spots that our bikes are known for. This is easily the best upgrade I've done to my bike.

I highly recommend it and I highly recommend Anthony from BAUCE RACING. This guy took hours converting my Bazzaz map to be compatible with the flash, he smoothed it out and listened to my concerns and explained everything, EVERYTHING to me. He applies all his knowledge into creating a true, workable and safe flash. I am positive that his experience with racing and his R&D go into every ECU he flashes. I truly believe that you get what you pay for and there's no exception to ECU flashing.

If you're concerned about the raised idle and If you have any concerns regarding engine longevity after an ECU flash.. .just contact Anthony and I'm sure he would be more than happy to answer all your questions.

And last but not least.... He did not pay me or give me free swag to say all of thee above. I am simply stating my first impressions with this product.

Zero down sides from my perspective. Overly satisfied with the flash and all I've done on it so far is street riding. Have to wait till next season for the track! And the raised idle helps oil pressure into the engine. Our beasts run with excessively low pressure with stock idle settings.

Glad to see ant is getting the recognition of his work and effort he deserves! Prolly overwhelmed with orders and the storm.

I'll be testing this MONSTER out this weekend! Sounds totally different, louder, stronger... And that was just on stands setting the rpm range of my gear indicator... This thing is going to RIP! Good thing I got it done, because I'll be racing Sunday! :fact

:jump :toocool: :yea

Looking forward to testing mine out on a cold day next week :laugh

The back tire gets really light under heavy braking, so its easier to lock up with all the engine braking trying to slow it down

#63 ·
With the slipper, it doesn't lock up. But it is rotating much slower after a couple downshifts than the front is going. So it does slide - buy bit bc it's locked up.

As for the guinea pig for the 07 - im getting it done.

(excuse typos, as this was a mobile posting)

I'm not one bit disappointed with my reflash. At first start up I noticed the higher idle and my check engine light was gone (exup removed). Tested it out a couple times through some local canyons and the difference was really noticeable; wanted to get a feel for it before my trackday yesterday. Throttle is much smoother, less engine braking is awesome, and the slipper is much better now too.

A couple weeks ago, I felt the back shimmy one time while downshifting going into turn 5 at Laguna. This time around at Infineon, had no issues with the slipper doing it's job. Felt the front come a few times too. If anybody is debating on getting a reflash, don't hesitate.

One thing that has not pointed out as well is.....

If you have non-stock gearing.... Anthony can calibrate the ECU to read the proper mph. Then you can simply sell your speedDRD.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but same goes with stock gearing. He sets it to correct the factory error.

Thanks guys!!!!

And for 07 guys, Derffred has been running it for WEEKS. I even reflashed cause he had a tiny bit of popping when decelling to 5k.

QR6/Quintin has had his done for a WHILE now. I just mailed his back to reflash. I set the correction to his sprocket tooth count. So the bike's OEM error came into play and he was doing 93 at 100 with a GPS (not military grade, but better than no GPS). It was 50 at 50 mph though.

So I flashed Quintin's with a % correction vs the tooth count to see if it's more precise. I appreciate you working with me on that Q!!! :cheers :hug

LOL Just :poking: a bit..., you know how I love to argue with you...:lmao

I wouldn't necessarily put you in the slow category. :sing Me, on the other hand...

If you have to have it all why do you have an 07? 08+ is where it's at bro!;)
:lmao....His bike is setup pretty nicely....:yes

I need that damn throttle twist mod he has...

Just saying...08 has longer forks, longer frame, adjustable velocity stacks for more midrange, higher compression pistons, etc. It's better. This coming from an 06 owner haha.

And tell me about this throttle twist mod...

I know, I've told him but I can't say much when you have an 07 owner outrunning you...:lmao

It's a common 1/4 twist mod, by pro motion, irrc. It allows a shorter throttle twist ratio. It's helpful for to guys like me that ride wrist down and have issues getting WTO (wide open throttle). I thought I was at WOT with this bike and I still had a fair amount to go, but it opened up a bunch of Yut-Ugh when I did...:lmao

Sending mine in next weekend. Sooooooo Stoaked to get this done!

My bikes running sooooooo lean with my yoshi exhaust. Its currently eating spark plugs every 3000 miles ish. Im getting tired of doing them every 2 weeks. lol.

Got to do the real test of the flash at Barber yesterday. Let me tell you it is simply amazing . Don't matter if ur bike is all stock or completely customized, have Bauce Racing flash your ecu.you won't regret it.

for the 10 seconds I had my bike on with the new ECU it sounded like a totally different machine. :laugh

Question Ant. . .

Will getting a higher flowing air filter make much of a difference?

And does it need different tweaking on the flash? As in should I have you go ahead and have you flash for it now, or is there no map change?

#114 ·
It will make a difference.

ECU flash is MONEY! :fact

Had mine at the track for the first time since getting it back. God damn that thing hauls some arse! I was gaining on EVERY 600 on any stretch. Course I'm also getting better at this track thing and driving out hard. But God damn that ECU flash is worth every God damn penny! Get dat chit done in "your" off season!

:cheers
