With the winter approaching I guess I'll hop on the trend of making a build thread. In March I bought my first sportbike, a 2010, off the showroom floor rode it all summer hoping one day I'd be able to get out to a track. About two months ago I was able to pick up a cosmetic damaged 2009 for the wife to eventually ride some and to be a dedicated track bike for me. Next season I plan on entering the MCRA series at both Putnam and Heartland Park.
Over the winter I want to get plastics for it, tire warmers, a front stand, brake overhaul, and I guess I should look into a damper. I've kinda been looking at the kevlar covers to protect the tank too.
Any suggestions or opinions of what/where to buy are more than welcome as this will be my first track build and my limited track experience.
How'd you do at Putnam? That whole weekend sucked. Cold, unorganized, people way too slow for advanced. Hell of a battle Grey and Valdez put on though.
I was the guy wearing the bright green suit if you remember that weekend at all lol
Side stand switch runs through two spots--there is one lead that gets cut on the left side frame rail if you do a keyless ignition--the other end of it runs from the back of the kickstand towards the tail and dead-ends at your ecu. Pretty easy to solder a jumper piece if you can't get it to shut off.
With the force expended during the wreck your head moves and compresses the pads in the helmet... Your face prob hit the front of the helmet... Which is why your lip was severely bruised... At least, thats what I ssume...
Got the quote from State Farm who has said they'll cover the bike.
Bike Value: $9156
Aftermarket parts they'll only pay 30%
Salvage Value: $4650 (buy back price)
Since I bought the bike for $4750 originally I'm taking the lump sum and gonna payoff the loan and look for a prebuilt bike that might need some new fairings or paint and throw my aftermarket parts on it.

I would have it tuned for street gas. You are in a whole new beast with race fuel. I hope to never have to be at that level unless its paid for by someone else....
Went for a rare street ride tonight, need to do it more often to shake rust off. Only the 2nd time since my wreck that I've ridden any distance on 2 wheels.
When I pulled the fairings off the new bike they were about twice as thick and heavy as my hotbodies were. Sold those and the 06-07 stay that was on it.
Build update: Block offs are done harness is in the process of being stripped out to make a DIY kit harness. New Spark Plugs in my near future and a flash of the PowerCommander. Hotbodies fairings ordered and when they get in they go for paint. Once painted I'll set the decals and put the numbers on for next season.
Got the track bike back together minus bodywork which is on it's way. Trying to solve any other issues I can find.
To Do:
Suspension Refresh
Adjust CCT
Change Oil...blah blah
New Tires
Rock out with Cock Out
